Deputy Public Prosecutor Etsuko Lim said that the Singapore permanent resident had gone onto the Dark Web in 2020 as he was curious about child pornography.

He then paid in Bitcoin to try accessing a website containing such material.

After he failed to obtain its log-in details, Randy joined a Telegram group chat where members shared pornography, including child abuse content, with one another.

Acting on information not disclosed in court documents, police raided his home on Oct 22, 2021, and seized items including a mobile phone and a portable drive.

Muhammad Khairy Ariffin was later caught with 203 sexually explicit videos of children which were made by others.

He had not intentionally sought out these child abuse videos. Instead, they had been automatically downloaded from chat groups on messaging platform Telegram.

Khairy, 30, was sentenced to six months and six weeks’ jail on Friday. He had pleaded guilty to being in possession of child pornography, among other offences.

Share share ba, how to turn it off
But the automatic downloads are really irritating especially if you sign up on group chats that share a lot of media files
Your phone space get eaten up very fast even without you realising it
I only realised it recently after my phone of 1 year plus ran out of space and then I started browsing through the folders one by one

I also realised that Tiger app also does the same thing
Not sure if still ongoing
If you take any screenshots or share any pictures, Tiger will also auto download a copy of all the pictures into the Tiger folder

First report, the guy is really a-hole and deserves it
If Telegram auto download without the person knowing, maybe still can be a believable excuse
But the guy in the first report even transferred into portable drive, he really ought to be sentenced
Anyway, second guy knows about the auto download but just lazy to delete, so cannot siam
Both get what they deserve

Click on settings, then Data and Storage, then turn off automatic media downloads from there.

To add on, if you still want auto download photos and pics but dont want it to take up a lot of space you can set to auto remove cache after a certain period.
