Thumbs up Chitchat PSLE Results Out! Guess How Many Students Going To Up The Lorry?

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

SINGAPORE: A total of 98.4 per cent of students who sat for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) this year made it to secondary school, up from 98.3 per cent last year and 97.6 per cent in 2014.

Of the 38,808 students who took the exam, 38,180 did well enough to move on to secondary school, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said on Thursday (Nov 24).

About 66.4 per cent made it to the Express stream, up from 66.2 per cent last year. Another 21.4 per cent were eligible for the Normal (Academic) course and 10.6 per cent for the Normal (Technical) course.

For the 628 students who did not qualify for the above courses, those who attempted PSLE for the first time may try again in the coming year or apply to Assumption Pathway School or NorthLight School, the ministry said.

Those who have attempted the exam more than once will be preferentially offered a place in the two schools, it added.

The 254 madrasah students who sat for the PSLE this year also met the minimum PSLE benchmark, the ministry said. Seven of the 37 home-schooled children from this year’s cohort did not meet the benchmark, and will have to retake the exam next year.

Students eligible for secondary school may submit their school options via the Secondary One Internet System from 11am on Thursday to 3pm on Nov 30. They may also submit the form at their primary schools from 9am to 3pm by Nov 30, excluding weekends.

The posting results will be released on Dec 21, and students are to report to the schools they are posted to at 8.30am the next day, MOE said.
