French officials condemn tourism video as too provocative

French officials condemn tourism video as too provocative Women at the beach By: Eva Fett (Scroll down for video) French officials have voiced their distaste for a recent tourism video for it being too hot for public view, according to a statement released by local officials. The French usually accuse the rest of the world of being too conservative when it comes to women showing off their bodies, but a new summer promotional video has proved too obscene for officials and heads of tourism in one region of France. Watch the video below and judge for yourself. The video was designed to promote the region of Charente-Maritime in western France, but has fallen out of favor with local authorities and tourism chiefs as "tasteless". The video shows women in bikinis splashing in pools, moving their bodies, bathing in sunshine and holding the occasional provocative pose. At one point, a woman in a gold bikini bends down and shakes her chest for the camera. The video, entitled "The anthem of Charente-Maritime Summer Edition," has obviously got pulses racing a little too fast among local officials, and have created a buzz on social networks. It is unclear whether tourism will sanction the use of video to promote the region. According to MFL Productions, the company that made the video, the promotion was the idea of regional director Michel Servit, but it seems that Servit’s colleagues had something else in mind. Dominique Bussereau, who is the deputy chief of Charente-Maritime and regional council said it was in "bad taste". Tourism officials seemed to agree. "We were hoping to see something more like children playing by the ocean or other images of the region," Stephane Villano, President of Charente-Maritime Tourism, said. "It could appeal to the young, but we cannot have dancers swaying like that," Villano said. He also said that he liked the music and the general atmosphere of the video, but not the images. The creator of the video, Franck Lecole, has lashed out at officials. "There is no thong in sight," he said. "I work with rappers so I could have brought some absolute stunners. Those who are in the video are almost asexual. they are all typical girls on the beach,” he said. Click here to view the whole thread at www.sammyboy.com. |
