In China I was told by many locals that they consider Hangzhou ( Zhejiang) girls very beautiful as they have lovely skin due to the cloudy weather ... the GL PRC girls also agree ... |

Re: Ode to the yellow river! 黄河颂
in my personal opinion i feel that hangzhou and the jiangnan region girls are a bit overrated. they do have gd skin, more round faces and are the kawaii or cute looking type. but they are shorter and smaller in size and lack sharp features. an eg of hangzhou girl would be
He Zhuoyan(http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E4%BD%...90%A2%E8%A8%80 ) tang wei (http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%B1%A4%E5%94%AF) zhou xun (http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%91%A8%E8%BF%85) The Yellow river delta region girls have the classical chinese face, , taller, more voluptuous and shapely , and have fair skin though not as smooth as jiangnan, sharper and more well defined facial features with large eyes and high bridge nose. egs would be Zhang Meng (http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%BC%A0%E6%AA%AC) Liu Jing (http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%88%98%E7%AB%9E) Bai Bing (http://zh.wikipedia.org/zh-tw/%E7%99%BD%E5%86%B0) Tan Jing (http://baike.soso.com/v191887.htm) (click on the links in the website for the pics) its subjective, those who love cute kawaii type go for hangzhou or jiangnan, those who love classical chinese, sharp features go for yellow river delta. Of course , classical well defined features is my type, so i love beauties from yellow river delta. |

Re: Ode to the yellow river! 黄河颂
Traditionally, it is believed that the Chinese civilization originated in the Yellow River basin. The Chinese refer to the river as "the Mother River" and "the cradle of the Chinese civilization".
Yan Huang (Chinese language: t 炎黃, s 炎黄, p Yán Huáng) was the name of an ethnic group of ancient China who inhabited the Yellow River basin area. They claimed their descent from the two tribes led by the Yan and Yellow Emperors.Their main achievement was to join together and strengthen the basis of the two tribes and their civilized community. They were the source of the Chinese people and the initiators of Chinese culture.Descendants of Yan and Yellow Emperor (Chinese: 炎黃子孫; pinyin: Yan Huang zisun)is an ancient Chinese term to refer to the Han Chinese and certain groups of minorities. Yandi (炎帝) and Huangdi (黃帝) are both the ancestors of the Huaxia people. Legend has it they are both part of the Yanhuang tribe. They became enemies and fought each other in the Battle of Banquan.Eventually, Huangdi defeated Yandi and the two peoples gradually assimilated each other's culture and became known as the Huaxia people. Centuries later, the Huaxia developed into the Han Chinese, which is the majority Chinese today. Huangdi is known as the founder of the Chinese civilization. no wonder they have typical classical chinese features. before southern song and ming, qing dynasties, the capital was either in xi an, luoyang or kaifeng, all in yellow river delta. many heroes like guan gong, Yue fei and beauties like diao chan and yang guifei are all from that region. even the descendents of hokkien chinese are immigrants from the central plain since three kingdoms period, according to wikipedia and many historical texts. The old Chinese languages spoken in central plain was brought south to fujian and over the years evolved into hokkien dialect. ethnic chinese from all over the world go to 黄帝故里, 新郑 in henan to trace their ethnic Han Chinese roots. Therefore i have a special interest and love for the yellow river delta for the cultural and historical value. and, of course, the beauties, lol. |

No doubt this topic is v interesting but v subjective...
just look at the 4 ancient chinese beauties...Xishi hailed fm Zhejiang ; Wang Zhaojun came fm Hubei; Diaochan this one cant recall ; Yang Guifei originated fm Sichuan... To me prolly the best looking m'sian chinese mms hail fm Ipoh n i gather the chinese in Ipoh mainly originated fm Guandong ( Guangzhou n Taishan)... Bk to mainland china...well think i am biased becuz i was based in Suzhou before n travelled quite extensively ard Jiangsu...so kinda hv a particular fondness for Jiangsu mms |

Re: Ode to the yellow river! 黄河颂
Diaochan was one of the Four Beauties of ancient China. She was said to have been born in 161 or 169 or 176, depending on the source. However, unlike the other three beauties, there is no known evidence that suggests her existence, therefore she is likely to be a fictional character.

Re: Ode to the yellow river! 黄河颂
according to most chinese historical text , diao chan and yang guifei are from shanxi province.one of them born in sichuan but parents from shanxi. perhaps most pple like cute kawaii type so tthey like jiangnan or gnerally southern chinese who mostly look like that and are shorter , what chinese say 'xiao niao yi ren'. i only like classical chinese faces with well shaped and sharp facial features , so i go for yellow river delta as most, i would not say all, look like that. they are also taller.
