i encountered the same problem with the 81 at balestier. i've visited that establishment a few times, but never have they asked for the lady's particulars.

the 81 beside the lavender food court..i went there recently and they didn't ask for the lady's particulars. so i'm not too sure if it's an across-the-board thing with the 81 franchise

I also encountered same problem at K81 but when I told the FL and she did the booking no such problem.Another thing is why is it the same 81 hotel can sometime charge $20 and sometime $30 for 2 hrs.I think the front office stuffs are pocketing the extra $10 because 81 hotels don't issue receipts.

Balestier 81 had asked whether the partner is a local or PR when check in.

I think this is why the strict rules nowadays. But they were damn rude that I decided to boycott H81 altogether.

i agree with some bros here on K81's staff poor attitude

I used to frequent K81, and I've stopped, not because of the $10 extra, it's the attitude of some of the counter staffs there that really makes me boil...

Just my experience, this 2 ic thing seems to be norm for 81.
I had the same exp at hotel 81 ks street. My ic to book a room. They check my companion passport/ic but did not key into the sys.
Just look see look see the passport/ic only.

According to her, if u do not open a room w her together, she will not be able to go up by herself.
Not sure how true.
