Thumbs up MDA is wrong, YPAP video is political to the core

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

MDA is wrong, YPAP video is political to the core

May 23rd, 2014 | Author: Contributions

I refer to the YPAP’s video posted in YouTube, titled “Re-ignite the Passion
of Servant Leadership”.

MDA’s explanation that the video is “not a political” film is superficial and
not acceptable. Its ‘PG’ rating given to the video is ridiculous.

A quick check in Google lead us to the meaning of ‘political’: of,
“activities associated with the governance of a country or area, especially the
debate between parties having power” and of, “activities aiming at improving
someone’s status or increasing power within an organization”.

Having understood the definition of ‘political’, analyzing
this film by YPAP under the construct of Content and Form, we can substantiate
that:
This film by YPAP is
a political film with a Political Content because the film displays a goal
specific to the party quoted by a full minister of PAP, Chan Chun Seng. The
development of this video is an expansion on the goal announced, with its
authorship and authority tracing back to PAP, and has a political end- that is,
to enhance, and promote the party’s status and to increase its power and
presence.

This film by YPAP is
a political film with a Political Content because the film blatantly displays a
mark of office and what it signifies: a film background with multiple PAP
Logos.

This film by YPAP is
a political film with a Political Content because the film blatantly displays
further marks of office: characters in PAP party uniform and PAP party
badge.

This film by YPAP is
a political film with a Political Form because its shape and structure
represents that of a propaganda – its repetitive narrative is devoted to the
spreading of a particular idea or belief, with quotes like: “present policies…”,
“As the ruling government…”, “party for all Singaporeans”.

This film by YPAP is
a political film with a Political Form because its shape and structure
represents that of a propaganda with contriving candidates from the party in
party uniform with party badge enforcing its presence and presenting their
party’s goals.

This video with its source Authorship in the PAP, is a political film through
and through. Riding on the assumed basis that candidates in the video would seek
to be elected at a parliamentary election as justification to clear the video by
MDA is superficial, for it is this very basis that conveniently facilitates a
self-seeking Political end.

What use is an Act with its conditions stipulated only to be self-cancelled
by some exemptions under the same Act as the Minister ‘thinks fit’. It is
meaningless that the Ministry that assess a film is the same affiliated party
that created the film.

With its dense political construct, this video by YPAP is political through and
through. It is politically prompted, politically initiated, and politically
executed.
