A Brazilian drink driver drove five miles with a dying cyclist he had knocked over trapped inside his broken windscreen.

Motorists mistook the victim for a doll but called police after stopping the car and discovering the upper body protruding from the smashed glass and draped over the top of the vehicle was human.

Stunned onlookers gathered round to take photos while they waited for an ambulance to arrive.

CCTV captures the car (ringed on the left) driving with what looks like something on its windscreen

As the camera zooms in, you can see part of the cyclist's body, with the rest of it obscured by a sign, lying limp on the car

Jose Adil Simioni, 58, was led staggering from his Fiat Strada in handcuffs as tragic Marco Aurelio Dlovski, on his way back from work when he was hit on a bend, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Paramedics covered the 31-year-old's body with a white blanket before freeing his body from the smashed windscreen and taking it away on a stretcher.

The amazing scenes - in Pinhais near Curitiba, south-east Brazil, were captured on a highway camera.
Viriginia Cordeiro, who helped stop the car, said: 'People thought at first it was a doll on top of the car.

By the time the emergency services turn up, a large crowd gathers, with many taking pictures on their phones

Jose Adil Simioni, 58, was then led by police staggering from his Fiat Strada in handcuffs

'When I realised it was a person I began shouting to other motorists to stop it.'

The victim's sister Isa wrote on her Facebook page: 'I'll never forgive his killer.'

One of the police officers called to the scene said: 'The driver was quite clearly drunk and had trouble walking.

'We had to bundle him into the back of our patrol car quickly to save him being attacked by onlookers.'

The driver is facing drink-drive and manslaughter charges.
