Thumbs up And the castle came tumbling down...

An honorable member of the Coffee Shop Has Just Posted the Following:

It seems that for the past 15months or so.. things and events have been cropping up that make me wonder how bad the "foundation" of Singapore has possibly deteriorated.

I mean.. from the ridiculous case of an underage escort.. that is protected from being named.. (but yet all seems to know whos she is).. and she herself willingly went into the business of selling her body..to high profile civil servants being hauled to court for "sexual favours in exchange for" what-nots.. to white paper on population.. to MRT breakdowns.. to media licensing regime..

And now.. a police.. formerly praised.. has been arrested for being involved in a double murder.

I shudder to think that SG's foundation.. is seriously crumbling.. and the economic success that the pappies has proclaimed so far.. has finally shown the cracks.. and the ppl are paying the price for having so much faith in a system that places so much emphasis on material gains and status symbols.. and social status.

If you look at a pyramid, or any building structure.. most will know that having a solid foundation.. the base.. is the sound way to go.. with a wider and strong and sturdy base.. the structure (pyramid or building) will most likely be quite safe from most weather conditions here in SG.

But look at our country... I feel that it's upside down.. where the TOP is big.. and the bottom.. the foundation.. is getting smaller and weakening.

Why do I feel this? Simple.. in any organization structure.. the top shouldn't be too heavy.. so that the number of ppl below can support those on the top.. but that doesn't mean you don't take care of those at the bottom.. for they are your base. your foundation.

For every director.. senior manager.. quite a number of junior staff support them.. and the number of leaders shouldn't be too many.. so that there is enough (whether it be money or bonus or food) to go all around.

But.. look at how many ppl at the op of the "foodchain" we have in SG.. take a serious look at our government.. how many ministers do we have? Do we really need so many? Especially when ONE gets paid close.to.. or more than a million SGD a year?

Then take a look at the GLCs.. how many pappies are in directors' positions? Tell me they are not too top heavy.. and I would ask you for details.. for some of the companies I know.. have managers upon managers upon managers... and sometimes.. we don't even know who is part of the top management!! Isn't that worrying?

When we grow plants and trees.. we water and put fertilizers on the roots.. we don't put it on the top of the plant or tree!! It would be insane to do that!! The roots absorb the water and the nutrients from the fertilizers.. and the leaves on the branches absorb sunlight.. that's the way it works.

But.. it seems the top in SG want both the "sunlight" and the "water and fertilizers".. and probably snuffing out the roots altogether.

I'm not a psychic.. but I fear more stuff;s going to happen.. and I feel this is probably the beginning of the end for the lightning logo.

As the saying goes, "all good things will come to an end".. and chinese saying goes, "new waves push the older waves in front at the long river".. things just have to change and make way.. nothing lasts forever.. not dynasties.. not empires.
