Unexpected encounter.
Disclaimer, writing has never been my forte, forgive me if I am too draggy.
(Some parts have been edited to protect the identity of the mentioned person) Last December, I rushed to Philippines upon receiving a message from my ex-wife, who wanted to divorce. (She’s working from hometown) I tried to talk her out of it, but I failed and I returned back to Singapore, feeling crushed and depressed. Since then, I numbed myself by immersing in work and studies. One day, out of the sense of solitude and curiosity, I decided to try a chatting app. Skimming through the message tree, I’d reply some of the posts and see what responses are there. On other occasions, I’d post some inspirational quotes to encourage whomever who may come across them. (There’s too many toxicity and self-victimising people already, Let’s spread some light and hope, man.) Besides, there’s this quote that goes something like, “People don’t care, unless they know someone cares about them.” Oops, I digressed, anyways, I posted quotes, replied posted messages and tried my best to show care and concern daily. Overtime, I grew tired of the app and wondered to myself, “Bloody hell, how come so many scammers one? Every time try to ask for money.” Just then, I received a DM from message tree. Out of curiosity, I clicked on the message, “Another person without real profile photo. NVM, i’ll humour “her”. A: Hallo. How are you, busy? Me: Evening, okay, still free. How about you? A: whole body aching. Me: how come? No response… Next day, on the way to work, I opened the app to check for updates. A: Hello. Me: Morning A: you now in where Me: West side of sg, how’s your day? A: now my stomach hurts very much Me: cramp? A: No Me: Got painkiller? Where you stay? Should I deliver some for you? A: me stay serangoon Me: what kind of pain? Did you know the cause? If not, I swingby later after work with painkillers or we go see doctor A: Menstruation Me: dun drink cold water and place warm towel on your tummy. A: ok, later. Now working. Me: will check if there’s painkillers for period later. Will text you after work later A: ok, thanks for paying attention to me. Me: no worries, you need to take care of yourself. If it’s convenient, please send me your postal code and what time you are free, i swingby later. A disclosed her address. After work, I proceed to the nearest Guardian pharmacy to stock up on the supplies. While inside Guardian, i thought to myself, “Dunno if this one another scam or not. Eh wait, i got the lumihealth app, maybe i can make use of it!” 30 minutes minutes later, I walked out of Guardian with the supplies. To be continued… Last edited by Sylvowolf; 19-06-2024 at 08:53 PM. |

Re: Unexpected encounter.
I proceed making my way towards the address A gave.
As I am approaching private apartment, “Now, how do I pass the stuff to her? If I just walk up to the door and press the door bell, it’s gonna be weird. I might get her into trouble as well, if her employer opened the door.” Opening the app, i texted her. Me: I’ve arrived, how do i pass you the things? A: I am cooking now, you can put it in the flower pot outside. Me: (Place item next to the flower pot and send photo) Later, while on board MRT heading back… A: okay thanks Me: hope those items will be helpful to you. Take care. Was worried they might go missing before you bring them up. A: Thank you very much. Told my friend next door to take it, I not free. I don’t know how to repay your kindness. Sorry, how much do i need to pay you? Me: no need, take it as a help from a friend. Inside the bag, 1 hot water bag, 2 packs of heat pad and a box of Panadol extra. 30 minutes later…. A: (Send photo of the items) Thank you very much Me : *thumb up A: sorry for bothering you. Me: dun worry. What is important is for you to be healthy. As I replied her message, I grinned. “Tan dio liao, (“profited”) The items cost $27.70, redeemed $25 from Lumihealth app. Spent $2.70 and gained trust.” Last edited by Sylvowolf; 20-06-2024 at 06:04 PM. |

Re: Unexpected encounter.
Sorry for the delay, being kind of busy lately and didn’t manage to find time to write.
Before I continue I’ll classify cumranger69’s question. Lumiheath app is a health app that’s made in Singapore in collaboration with the Apple watch with the purpose to promote health awareness and healthy lifestyle. Basically you can use it to complete health related “games/quests”and collect coins. As you gather enough, you can redeem Health Promotion Board (HPB) vouchers at selected stores. The vouchers are in denominations of $5 and $10. As for wantedbryan’s question The update below shall answer ya. ============================================= Looking back at the screen… Me: You have other chatting app? Meet too many scammers here, going to delete this app. However A didn’t reply until later in the evening. Likewise, I was busy, I didn’t check the apps for update until the next day And when I did… 13th Feb 2023 10:05pm A: WhatsApp can? Sorry only reply now, busy with work. (Then she disclosed her contact) 13th Feb 2023 10:15pm A: You sleep already? Sorry I reply slowly. Don’t angry 13th Feb 2023 10:55pm A: Good night Immediately i replied. Me : Morning. Dun worry, I not upset. I can imagine how busy you are, but do take care of yourself. A : Morning, yes, okay. How are you today? Me: Starting work for the day, Do your best. A: okay, thanks. Happy Valentine’s day. After i read the message, I saved A’s contact number, then I texted her in WhatsApp. In the text conversations, I learnt that A is an Indonesian DH who just started working in sg a few months ago. She’s a divorcee in her late 30s and a single mother of 2 children for the last 14 years. Currently, she’s taking care of a 3 generation family in a private property in Serangoon alone. Every weeknights, she has to cook dinner for the employer who only reached home after 11pm. In addition, she has ad hoc assignment of cleaning another condominium apartment owned by the owner. (Is this legal ?!) She also asked why am I befriending her and displayed a sense of inferiority for being a villager . But I told her that her background doesn’t matter and I genuinely want to be her friend. And she is convinced. After which, I video chat with her almost every evening to keep her company. Re: Unexpected encounter.
Sorry for the delay in update (as well as the lack of intimate actions) , I have been busy with both work and studies.
I shall continue where I left off. ———————— ———————— ———————— Over the next few weeks, i text and video chat and tease her, while making plans with her for meet up. However, her boss seems demanding and we have to change the dates a few times as the proposed dates are being rejected. Finally we managed to secure a meet up on the last Sunday of the March. So, on the evening before the meetup… Me: I am wondering how we will have dinner tomorrow. Should we order the food 1st, then eat after you break fast? I better not find place for you to rest, later i naughty. Haram. Just jalan jalan then A: (replied to just jalan jalan then) Sleep Me: u bring rope and tie me up 1st. A: Tie you to a tree if you want. Me: Fierce siah, you. Now I scare. A: Afraid I start biting? Me: Apa, love bite? A: (insert big ya emoticon with nodding head) Me: Now I shy ( insert shy emoticon) Changing subject….. Me: So we meet Serangoon MRT at 8plus tomorrow A: Yes Me: okay, see you then. I go rest now. Good Nite. Oops almost type Good Bite Last edited by Sylvowolf; 24-06-2024 at 07:04 PM. |

Re: Unexpected encounter.
Next day, I arrived at Serangoon MRT station and waited for A.
Outside the station, I saw a petite lady wearing a black face mask and dressed in a long black dress with floral design walking towards me. In her hand was a middle size tote bag. She is around 1.5m tall and has a long straight black hair. She has mild makeup on her eyelids and eyebrows. She stopped in front of me, and then she removed her mask and gave me a bright smile. Upon seeing that, my heart skipped a beat and quickly recognised that she is A. Trying to regain my composure, i said, “ Hi A, how are you?” Then reaching out my hand, “Let me help you carry your bag” and proceed to do so. Me: Okay, Anywhere you want to go? A: Paya Lebar, I meeting a friend there to collect something. Me: okay. (At the back of my mind, I didn’t put much thought into it as I thought she is trying to maximise her time as she only has 1 off day monthly.) Later, at Paya Lebar…. We walked towards Paya Lebar Square and met a fat lady. This lady is around the same height as A but is way rounder than her. Hence, they started to talk to each other in Bahasa Indonesia, while I waited at the side. After A collected a huge bag of stuff from the fat lady, she returned to me. I looked at the bag inquisitively and asked what was that. The fat lady replied on A’s behalf, “ Snacks, 有饼干 (have biscuits in chinese)” Me: (slightly stunned) Oh I see. A: This is my friend F, she will join us today for outing. Me: (WTF!! Oh never mind lah, next time still got chance one) Okay, boleh. Then we make our way to Bayfront MRT. Upon arrival, I initially thought of bringing them to Gardens by the bay, but considering that A hasn’t explore Singapore much, I thought maybe we could explore MBS a bit 1st. After we strolled around the MBS, the plan somehow derailed and we ended up walking further and further away….. Finally, we ended up at the Merlion park where 2 ladies took tons of photos there. After that, we rest under the bridge nearby. While resting F mentioned that they are tired and wanted to go eat at Paya Lebar. That seriously irritated me. At the back of my mind, I thought to myself, “Crap! The schedule got ruined already. And how come this fat lady so selfish? Not only did you tag along, now you want to disrupt people’s plan.” Calming down, I asked what’s there to eat there? F: Bakso. Me: I thought you ladies are fasting? F: Aiyah, the weather so hot and we walk so much, now hungry. Me: (give myself a mental facepalm.) Ok. Then we walked to the nearest MRT station and head down to Paya Lebar (again). Upon reaching Paya Lebar, I initially thought we are going into the mall to get the so call bakso. However, I was led towards the pavement area next to the station. After we bypass the bicycle parking area, I could hear loud music and lots of women gathering there. Soon we stopped in front of a makcik sitting near the entrance. A approached the makcik and ordered 3 sets of bakso, then we walked further down the pavement, found a shady spot then laid a mat then settled down. Hence, I have my first bakso that day. Apparently, bakso is their local dish, made out of beef meatball. As for this one from the makcik, we are given a 5 - 6 inch diameter paper bowl, a pair of plastic fork and spoon, some beehoon, and a packet of soup with a huge meatball in it. After pouring the contents into the bowl, the meatball literally took up 3/4 of the bowl, then we added condiments into the soup. The meatball is really meaty, however eating it with a flimsy pair of cutleries proves to be quite challenging, as for the beehoon, it’s like just a few strains only. And the soup is quite okay, mildly spicy but not overpowering. Curious about the price of the dish, i said A how much was it, and she repaid S$12. I almost choked upon hearing the price and thought, “Are you kidding me, 12 bucks for this small portion!? Damn, this makcik must’ve been making tons of money!” Cut the story short, we ate the bakso, then we went for karaoke at PLQ. Good thing the karaoke here have Indonesian songs (can’t be help, i hardly go ktv, that’s why i very mountain tortoise.) and the ladies enjoyed themselves. After the ktv, we went separate ways and i send A home. On the way back home, I reviewed the day’s outing. The outing was a chaos, F overhauled my entire plan. However I did learn something about the Indonesian DH as a community and I am kind of glad to know that A isn’t exactly alone in this foreign land, and she has some friends she can go to. That gives me a sense of relief and at least, the ladies enjoyed themselves at the end of the day. Many readers might think that I am a pushover and not assertive enough, but during the outing, my intention is for A to enjoy herself and it’s less about what I get in return.
