Barcelona 3 - 5 Villarreal : Barcelona suffer stunning 5-3 home loss to Villarreal

Barcelona endured a traumatic evening as visitors Villarreal scored two stoppage-time goals to secure a 5-3 LaLiga win on Saturday before their coach Xavi Hernández announced he was stepping down as manager at the end of the season.

Although Barca were in control with 70% possession, it was Villarreal who opened up a two-goal lead with goals from Gerard Moreno in the 41st minute and Ilias Akhomach in the 54th.

But Barcelona fought back in an 11-minute spell through strikes by Ilkay Gündogan on the hour and Pedri eight minutes later before an own goal from Eric Bailly, who was trying to clear Frenkie de Jong's free kick in the 71st minute.

However, Villarreal responded as Alexander Sørloth started another quick counter attack with a great long pass to Goncalo Guedes, who collected the ball in his stride before firing home to equalise for Villarreal in the 84th.

With Barca pushing for a winner their defence was exposed and Sørloth and José Luis Morales struck to secure the points.

Barca remain in third place on 44 points, 10 behind leaders Real Madrid and eight adrift of second-placed Girona.

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernández announced he will leave the club at the end of the season after Saturday's 5-3 defeat to Villarreal at the Olympic Stadium.

Barcelona 1 - 0 Osasuna : Barcelona beat Osasuna with late Vitor Roque goal

Barcelona's 18-year-old Brazilian striker Vitor Roque came off the bench and scored with a header to snatch a 1-0 win against visitors Osasuna in LaLiga on Wednesday.

In their first game since manager Xavi Hernandez announced that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season, Barca once again struggled up-front but managed to find the winner in the 63rd minute when Roque netted from a Joao Cancelo cross one minute after coming on.

It was Roque's first goal for the club since arriving from Brazil earlier this month after Barcelona signed him from Athletico Paranaense during the summer window in a deal worth €61 million ($65.8 million), including add-ons.

Alavés 1 - 3 Barcelona : Vitor Roque scores again, then gets controversial red

Barcelona won 3-1 at Alavés in LaLiga on Saturday thanks to goals by Robert Lewandowski, Ilkay Gundogan and substitute Vitor Roque, who was sent off after picking up a second yellow card.

Barcelona opened the scoring thanks to an incisive pass from Gundogan to Lewandowski and the Pole lofted the ball over goalkeeper Antonio Sivera to score his ninth goal of the season.

Gundogan popped up early in the second half with a fine left-foot strike from Pedri's pass to increase Barcelona's lead.

Alavés launched a quick counter-attack two minutes later following a breakaway by Alex Sola who crossed for Samu Omorodion to head home.

Barcelona restored their two goal lead thanks to a shot from Roque, who had replaced Gundogan in the 63rd minute.

But the Brazilian was sent off nine minutes later, after receiving yellow cards for an elbow on Nahuel Tenaglia and a foul on Rafa Marin.

A double by Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal helped his side salvage a 3-3 draw at home to relegation-threatened Granada on Sunday in a rollercoaster LaLiga match.

Robert Lewandowski's penalty deep into added time earned Barcelona a fortunate 2-1 win at Celta Vigo in LaLiga on Saturday ahead of their Champions League game at Napoli.

It was another uninspired performance by Barcelona until a moment of brilliance from Lewandowski gave the visitors the lead just before half-time.

Winger Lamine Yamal found the Poland forward on the edge of the box and he made space with the outside of his boot to fire a bullet strike past goalkeeper Vicente Guaita.

Under pressure in 17th place, fourth bottom and three points above the relegation zone, Rafa Benitez's side fought back to level in the 47th minute when Iago Aspas netted a deflected strike past keeper Marc-André ter Stegen.

Celta were pushing for victory with Aspas missing three clear chances before defender Fran Beltrán made a bad mistake, missing the ball completely in a clearance attempt and hitting Yamal's leg in the 93rd minute to give Lewandowski his chance seven minutes into stoppage time.

Vicente Guaita saved his first effort, but the VAR check showed the keeper was in front of the goalline before the ball left the spot and Lewandowski tucked away his second effort.

Napoli fought back to hold visitors Barcelona to a dour 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie on Wednesday thanks to a goal from Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen.

Last year's Spanish and Italian champions, who are both struggling this season, played out a poor first half before Poland striker Robert Lewandowski put Barca ahead in the 60th minute.

Brazil forward Raphinha scored twice to help Barcelona secure a 3-2 win at Paris Saint-Germain in their Champions League quarterfinal first leg on Wednesday.

PSG forward Kylian Mbappé was nowhere to be found in Parc des Princes as five-time European champions Barca managed to neutralise France's captain, who was often frustrated in his attempts up-front.

Xavi Hernandez's side dominated proceedings early on against the French side still looking for a first Champions League crown. Raphinha gave the visitors the lead with a rebound strike in the 37th minute after goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma failed to clear a cross from his box.

However, PSG looked transformed after the break with manager Luis Enrique switching things up and bringing on forward Bradley Barcola for Marco Asensio.

The attacking change resulted in the equaliser in the 48th minute when Ousmane Dembélé smashed the ball into the top corner. Barca were still reeling when the hosts took the lead through Vitinha who stroked the ball in two minutes later from a quick counter attack.

But Raphinha's deft volley in the 62nd minute from a brilliant long pass by substitute Pedri brought the match level again, silencing the home crowd.

Andreas Christensen then took advantage of a static Donnarumma to jump unchallenged in the 6-yard box and head in from a corner 13 minutes from time to give the Spanish side a narrow advantage going into next week's second leg.

French winger, Bradley Barcola, was a constant menace to Barca's defence, running up and down the left channel as PSG dominated from the start.

But Barcelona seemed comfortable to sit back and counterattack, with Raphinha giving them the lead in the 12th minute after some good work from Lamine Yamal down the right channel.

Barça were down to 10 men just before the half hour after last man Ronald Araújo was shown a red card for a foul on Barcola just outside the penalty area.

Former Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembélé equalised for the visitors in the 40th minute from another great play by Barcola.

PSG were back on top in the second half and piled on the pressure until Vitinha finally managed to put the visitors in front on the night after 54 minutes.

PSG kept up the pressure, and in the 61st minute Barça full-back João Cancelo made a reckless sliding tackle to take down Dembele and concede a penalty that Mbappé fired into the top corner to make it 3-1 as PSG moved ahead in the tie.

As Barça tried to find a goal to take the game to extra time, France striker Mbappé made the most of a counterattack to score from close range and wrap up a semifinal place.

PSG will face Borussia Dortmund, whom they played in the group stage, after the Germans beat Atletico Madrid.
