KUALA LUMPUR: Twelve foreign women believed to be sex workers were detained following a raid on a suspected prostitution den located in a three-star hotel on Jalan Ipoh. From room photo can see is C-hill hotel, same wallpaper

Acting on a public tip-off and subsequent surveillance, a team from the KL police headquarters raided the hotel at about 11pm on Wednesday (Dec 30). Police also arrested three men, including two locals, who were the caretakers. Kuala Lumpur CID chief Senior Asst Comm Saiful Annuar Yusoff said on Thursday that nine Vietnamese women and three Thai women aged between 20 and 30 were detained during the raid. “We raided the premises after receiving information from the public via the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) application. Dunno how true is this, but means need to be more careful visiting cheong or naughty massage places since dunno whether owner got pay protection fee or not

“We monitored the location for about two weeks before raiding the prostitution den, ” he told reporters at the scene on Wednesday night. A total of 12 rooms – six on the eighth floor of the hotel and six on the ninth floor – were allegedly used by the prostitutes to cater to customers. “Initial investigations revealed that the syndicate advertised their services via WeChat. “Customers would be asked to go to the hotel before they are brought to the rooms to make their choices. “Each session with a prostitute is priced at RM235, ” he added.

SAC Saiful Annuar said patrons were also given loyalty cards to be stamped each time they used the syndicate’s services. They would get a free session after six stamps. Still waiting for the day that WLs at Ace got loyalty card

“Some of the foreigners detained had valid travel documents, while some claimed that their passports were kept by others. We believe the syndicate has been operating for about three months, ” he added. SAC Saiful Annuar also thanked members of the public for their cooperation and information into the case.
