Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

My telly was on but I snoozed throughout much of the 2nd half

First half was average although Cole took his goal well. I was getting worried that Steaua was passing the ball behind us and around us too easily.

Have to give it to Ngog for the goals, the penalty was well taken and his second goal, brushing aside the defenders, was Torres-like.

And Lucas looked Brazilian for once

Good to see the youngsters responding to the challenge.

Lucas looked good because Raul was playing beside him. He was the one controlling the game and making it possible for the others to perform. I have to give my vote to him as our best signing this summer even tho it still is early days.

Liverpool reject Hicks power play

Liverpool hv rejected a proposed refinancing strategy fr co-owner Tom Hicks tat could hv given the American increased control @ Anfield.

Hicks personally delivered his proposal direct 2 the Liverpool board in a showdown meeting ahead of the club's Europa League tie, & was told tat his plans were not acceptable.

In fact, Hicks was left in no doubt of the board's resolve 2 find new owners & end his turbulent reign - alongside fellow American George Gillett - @ the Premier League giants.

Hicks wants 2 buy out the £237 million RBS debt which is threatening 2 end his joint ownership of the club when the facility expires on deadline of October 6. He is hoping 2 raise funds fr US banks 2 get the funds 2 buy out RBS, possibly using the players & stadium as collateral.

Hicks has moved 2 thwart the possibility of RBS temporarily taking control of Liverpool & selling it off @ a rock bottom price, far less than Hicks & Gillett believed it 2 be worth when they originally put the club up 4 sale @ £800 million a year ago.

The price has since plummeted & might now be worth as little as £150 million. With no creditable buyer yet in public sight, Hicks is trying desperately 2 retain control, if not total control, & hold out in the hope of finding someone who will pay more later.

With Gillett's finances in a parlous state, & with the possibility tat he might default on other loans & ultimately lose his 50% stake in Liverpool, his partner Hicks is attempting 2 refinance alone & gain total control.

The Liverpool board are hving none of that, believing an extension of the Hicks & Gillett ownership, even if it reverts to Hicks, would only prolong the financial misery.

Meanwhile, 2 ESPNsoccernet, Liverpool hv refuted claims tat they hv sought advance funding fr the Premier League's TV revenues & sponsorship payments as their financial situation is starting 2 alarm fiscal experts.

A fire sale of players in the January transfer window cannot be ruled out, according 2 ESPNsoccernet sources, but tat would be 1 of the last resorts 2 shore up the ailing finances.

Under the circumstances Liverpool hv already given assurances 2 the Premier League tat they can fulfil all their fixtures 4 tis season. A similar undertaking has been given 2 UEFA abt the club's participation in the Europa League.

ESPNsoccernet approached Liverpool 2 ask whether the club is still able 2 afford the players' huge monthly wage bill, considering the club r now in the red.

A club spokesman replied tat Liverpool FC has prudent working capital facilities tat allows the Club 2 make proper provision 4 outgoings as & when they arises. These working capital facilities r totally satisfactory to both the Premier League and UEFA.

This is the part that is scary....will we become the next portsmouth? with news of players not receiving their salary or receiving them late??

Their "assurances" to premier league and UEFA sounds ominously similar to those "assurances" given by club chairmen just before sacking the manager.

hope it's not another "D-Date" comes and goes without any sign of ending in the ownership saga... we've heard too many dates which they supposely to sell the club...

coming back to sunday match...

think this will be RH's 4-2-3-1 lineup...
riena
jonhson-skrtel-carragher-konchesky

~man u main threat is down their left, so johnson has to be on top of his game to take care of nani. i'll prefer agger to skrtel, as he has a cooler head.. skrtel sometimes tends to give away too many fouls which is dangerous when playing in old trafford (we all know tat ref r not our best frens, esp in their ground)...
paulsen-gerrard
~prefer raul (or even lucas) to partner gerrard, cos poulsen seems still adjusting to the epl pace.. but i guess RH will play poulsen.. PLEASE RH, don't play a lucas-poulsen partnership and push gerrard up while shift cole the the flank... a lucas-poulsen midfield will offer nothing in offense... man utd is still struggling to find their best pair of CM, so we have to dominate this part of the field...
maxi-cole-jovanovic
~tough choice on the right side, we'll miss kyut here. kyut wil keep erva busy and will track back to help out johnson.. think RH will play it safe by choose maxi over pacheco or babel... while on the left, we should take advantage of man utd weakest link in the RB position, hope we'll see the best of jova tis sunday..
torres
~will scare the hell out of vidic just with the mention of torres name...

Since we got nothing to lose I would prefer to go with 4-3-3 and attack the scums in their own home.

Reina
Johnson-Carragher-Skrtel-Konchelsky
Meireles-Gerrard-Cole
Pacheco-Torres-Jovanovic

Meireles is a player that RH should include without exception because he has the ability to neutralise the scums play due to his exceptional reading of the game and positioning. I feel this guy is even better than Alonso and Mascherano. Very intelligent player and he can attack too.

nah. Pachecho is too inexperienced n im sure RH would not want to take the risk. RH would rather bring on Babel or Ngog.

Liverpool on the edge as Hicks plans move

Liverpool "teeter on the edge of a financial abyss" as ESPNsoccernet has learned tat the proposed takeover plans of Tom Hicks could land the club with crippling interest repayments.

On the eve of Liverpool's clash with ManU, the depth of the crisis now threatening Anfield has seen Hicks plan 2 buy out George Gillett & refinance the RBS debt, effectively taking full control of the club.

Hicks reportedly outlined his plans 2 use Blackstone, a private equity firm, 2 refinance, but the deal could see Liverpool end up with debt far greater than ManU.

"It is sure 2 lead 2 extortionate interest rates, which will leave Liverpool more in hock than ever be4,'' a banking source told ESPNsoccernet. ''It is a recipe 4 disaster 4 the club but it would give Hicks the time he needs 2 sell the club 4 the price he is trying 2 get."

The fans, though, r beginning 2 fear the worst 4 Liverpool & 'The Spirit of Shankly' fans group have seen documents which make worrying reading 4 the Anfield faithful.

''The Spirit of Shankly Supporters' Union hv received information regarding Barclays Capital & the state of Liverpool Football Club's finances over the Summer of 2010,'' an e-mail fr the group read. ''While the original copy document is not in the Union's possession, a full and accurate copy of it has been made.

''The document throws up many questions abt the public messages coming fr Martin Broughton, the Club & Barclays Capital underlining again tat Liverpool Football Club teeters on the edge of a financial abyss.''

The group hv highlighted some main points, which show the full extent of the financial situation at Liverpool, including the fact tat, in the period July 2 August, the club's debt was increased by £20.8 million. Also, they hv revealed tat the sum currently required 2 refinance the club (£300 million) can be reduced 2 £187.5 million through using the proceeds of a £75 million loan 2 the holding company in Delaware & by rolling £37.5 million in2 the proposed loan 4 the new stadium

ESPNsoccernet understands that Liverpool's board will attempt 2 attempt 2 block Hicks' efforts 2 remain in control at Anfield, but could be powerless if the Texan refinances.

''If Blackstone's GSO [a specialist off-shoot tat deals with companies in big financial trouble], lent Hicks the money, it is like buying a lottery ticket 4 Hicks,'' the source added. ''If the term is 2 yrs, or anything up to 5 years, he has bought tat time 2 find a buyer at the terms he wants.

"For Liverpool it would mean bigger interest fees, bigger interest repayments, & by the end of the term, Blackstone's could end up owning the club & Hicks would have to walk away, if he cannot find a buyer.

''If Hicks extends his control by pulling off this refinancing then Liverpool will become the next Leeds United.''

Not good at all.....seems like Hicks is gonna kick RBS out....

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/st...ngland&cc=4716

sigh.....i wonder why no one in England/UK is doing anything about this. surely these english clubs are a heritage to them and deserve some sort of protection. The govt should not allow some blardy yanks to destroy wat took more than a century to build and almost defines them.

Can the spirit of shankly group or some other english group petition the court for an injuction to stop hicks' plan and protect the club? are they really just going to sit by and watch this happen??

i hope hicks suddenly gets a heart attack and dies man...sorry, wat he is doing is evil and deserves nothing but the worst.

the only way to get rid of the yanks is for the kop to walk off anfield at half time n not comeback, one of the teams in europe did that n they got rid of the owners.its time the kop took things into thier own hands, palcards n chants r a waste of time.but sadly the kop love pool too much to do that.
