Players fatigue would be expected, just had to find consolidation from the fact that those players not involved in the WC (Yossi, Sotirius, El Zhar, Ayala, Jonjo, Milan etc) are able to carry LFC thru the inital Europa qualifying stages, and that is, a BIG that is, they are still around come next season.
And pls don't create another freak accident of "carrying his baby and hurt his back/knee", like the jinx aurelio..

Also will have to hope that key players involved in WC don't carry any serious injuries back.

It's sad when the club sinks to a new low. We only qualified for the Europa League because Portsmouth didn't apply for a UEFA license. Otherwise, Portsmouth would have qualified as the losing FA Cup finalist.

We start on the 3rd qualifying round on the 16th of July 2010. Should be home and away. If we win, we join Aston Villa and Man City in the playoff round on the 6th of August 2010. Only after we win in the playoff round will we qualify for Europa League. Before the league even starts, we would have 4 competitive games already.

I'm not hopeful that Torres will come back good - it's another long season coming up for him and his body hasn't been taking it well so far.

Of course they might. My point is (and I didn't state clearly just now) that Portsmouth would have qualified for the Europa League in our place if it has renewed its UEFA license this year. Would have qualified even as a losing FA cup finalist or FA cup winner.

We are lucky that we are even in Europe next season. Although I rather we didn't qualify for it. We clearly don't have the squad to compete in too many competitions.

With Lucas still playing in the starting 11, we still be playing with just 10 men in the field. But the game will get an extra referee

Yes totally agree with the Villa part. We should at least have 6th instead of 6th. sigh. but i can't take consolation in the everton thing. Why? Do u remember that right up to christmas, Everton was actually struggling at the bottom of the table in or near the relegation zone and in the end they still manage to catch us until just only a few points behind us. Wat does dat mean? It means for Jan to May 2010, they actually did better than us.

Agree dat the articles are interesting but neither of them proposes any way for us to dig ourselves out of the hole that the yanks buried us in....maybe there isn't a way..maybe we really will be another Newcastle....

As for torres, much as i love him, he is injury prone. i tink he played less than 50% of total games last season. No doubt when he does play the impact is great, but wats the point if u only can play half the games?

The only thing is as a striker, i tink he is irreplaceable - not even by rooney. He goals to game ratio speaks for itself. I am very sure he will come back from WC injured or fartigued or something. And even if he is around next season, i m not sure if he will play at least 70% of the games and give us 30 goals (which is well within his capability if can stay healthy and fit).

Here's to the future.....watever it may bring....
