Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Liverpool have never won the Premier League since it started... if they don't fix up with managers and players they'll be out of the big 4 soon.
Rafa keep complaining the squad is weak and no money, his team is probably stronger than some of those above him. Roy Hodgson is a very good manager. Tested in the EPL too. |

For some time, we kept thinking it was history which held us back - the burden of being the most successful club in England and the pressure of wearing the shirt. In recent years, we have pointed at the financial state of affairs while Chelsea and Man City have come up and surpassed us. Then we blasted the Yanks, and now Rafa. In this time, Arsene Wenger, a master tactician and philosopher of football, has won nothing as well. Some would say he has not spent enough and put his faith in youth. We all see the huge stadium they have built and are still paying for (what an irony - the stadium is supposed to bring in money but continues to pinch budgets after it's built). Winning the league now is a matter for squads and not the starting eleven. Two games a week, which includes a flight to some part of Europe and back, takes its toll on body and spirit. Look at Stevie and Torres - their bodies simply can't take it (and also other star players elsewhere). And squads are basically a question of how much green the banker has. And the thing that has changed the most is of course the fan base and its impact on football. Managers and players are fired now cos public opinion turns on them. Memories are short and passion is fleeting. You can be a hero one day and villain the next. At Anfield, there are still fans who call for unity but they are already being drowned out by the trigger happy, quickie seeking brady bunch. It would take some manager indeed to bring our squad to the highest level in this sort of footballing world. Or we can wait for English football to crash financially and burn itself out in its greed. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Bro Tata,
i disagree with u.. people say "you are only as strong as your weakest link" and Liverpool's weakest link is the bench players, due to financial constraints, we have not been able to keep decent players to stay on the bench to be called when the first choice players are injured or unavailable. the thing is, Liverpool, when every first team players are fit, is a VERY STRONG team, capable of winning any match, even against Chelsea/Barcelona/Man U.. but when the first team are down.. thats when the problem kicks in.. our reserves are not capable to deputise the senior.. some fans will finger point to Benitez for not being able to keep decent bench players and will comment like should keep Keane as back up.. but Keane's wage is probably in the range of 80k-100k per week? given Liverpool's budget, can we afford? look at Liverpool line up, how lean the squad? most of the time the first team players have to play in different position, simply because the reserve arent capable to step up. Mascherano have to play in right back position in so many games this season. Agger have to play on left back on occassion. Kuyt playing as right wing until Maxi came. and as i mentioned in my prev post.. sometimes, our young players have to play whether they are ready or not.. especially Lucas. i again asked brothers out there, when Gerrard/Aquilani out injured. who to play in CM with Mascherano? Lucas or Plessis or Spearing?? i know some will comment, shouldnt sell Alonso or shouldnt buy Aquilani.. but given the current football world. which decent CM can u buy for 8-10 million? anyway, buy 8-10 million, confirm also will kena shot and fark upsize down for spending money unwisely.. as another brother said, it is easy to finger point and blame RB.. but can brothers out there give more constructive comment?? u want to shoot Lucas, can, then tell me who to play along Mascherano, Gerrard? fans who watch Liverpool match often knows that when we play Gerrard in CM, and when he attacked, the defence will sure prone to counter attack from opponent de. thats why RB pair Lucas with Macherano, to cover the slow Carra and Agger.. if u think he too passive, then suggest how you will play Liverpool as Manager.. what formation to use? 4-4-2? 4-3-3? suggest ur first team player, and possible bench players, too. and dont fantasize and said, ai yah.. RB should buy this guy that guy.. cos Liverpool is BROKE. aka. no money. anyhow, without financial injections, Liverpool are doomed to sell their stars.. and start to cut budget, keep the squad lean, and fighting for survival rather than trophies.. i blame all these on the Yanks, who load the debts on top the club, against their words of using their own dollars to buy the club!!! TMD!!! lastly.. if u are NOT a reds' fans.. dont come here pretending that you are.. u guys have another thread just to make fun of Liverpool already.. here: http://sammy.services/soccer-...ol-thread.html anyway, looking forward to how things unfold in the next months.. and to those who wish to see RB go.. well, mayb you guys will have your wish come true.. but as they say "beware of what you wish for.." and in chinese "bu yao shi qi le, cai lai hou hui.." (dont come and regret after u lost it..) cheers, Shy |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
rahl you do make sense.
I have to say fans are not trigger by a one day failure. They are usually very patient, look at even City and Chelsea, the fans did not chase the managers out. It takes time, of consistent failure, poor gameplay, empty promises, the blame game... the list goes on. I do understand the pressure the manager has to face, but this is part of his own doings too. Like any corporate out there, if the public has extremely negative view on your company and singled out the cause, what will you do if you were the Chairman or CEO? Wenger along with Arsenal has done fairly well admist the financial crisis. They are the only elite team that has a upward growth in market transactions, all this while competing with the likes of Utd Chelsea City Spurs and Liverpool, eventually still making the top 4. The fans can accept the trophy drought but I admit it is getting uneasy even for the revered Arsene. His philosophy, transformation, tactics are what made Arsenal today, we were merely a boring team before. We had key injuries too, although all the tradition big 4 do face at least a crisis this season, we have the thinnest 1st team squad. The fans are more accomodating and appreciative of this long serving manager. We don't have the best team but we are one of the best clubs in the world. As for the stadium, I can only say we are starting to see returns from the mega investment despite the debts. Which team doesn't have debts, which company in the world can prosper without debts, if any, they are stupid as anybody in the finance sector will tell you debt is cheap. I'm glad to hear Wenger promises significant spendings and is finally targetting the likes of Simon Kajer, Chamakh etc.. before that we were simply sitting around and expecting some names we never heard of (hoping to stay in big4, or even wrestle for title). I would say this is the unofficial first dividend from Emirates. This also shows he does lend a ear and understands the fans. This is the special faith from fans and to fans. Liverpool needs to find a manager that has been proven in EPL best with great charisma, or a shrewd tactician like Mourinho - which is utterly rare. I still believe their current team is good enough to compete in big 4 next season, but as with many new managers, they always injects new life to the team, which might be what Liverpool really needs. The Liverpool players right now look too lacklustre, similar to when Arsenal slip off the chase for title in previous weeks. |

Just think of Evans (Spice Boys Era), Houllier and Rafa (both quite aloof and distant from players) and I think we haven't seen this kind of manager in Liverpool. I think Moyes at Everton can kick butt quite well too. If you underperform in Liverpool now, what will happen to you? Will you get dropped or sold? I don't think so...

i have the same sentiments with u on Hodgson. Actually i was thinking of hairy redknapp too. he was quite magnificent transforming Spurs fr a team on the brink of relegation last year to a top 4/5 team this season! his history of achievements, no need to elaborate further.
