I need to bring my wife for Medical Checkup for her LTSVP application which was approved for 6 mths. Can I bring her to any polyclinic or any recommendation for a low cost clinic for such test inclusive HIV test? I'm living ard Clementi area.

Any approved clinics by HSA will be accepted by ICA.

u can bring her to SATA for the checkup which is quite cheap. only cost around $30+. there is one at the Jurong.

BTW, i have to thank you for the advices u've provided. Just rec'd the letter and from what i read here, if the letter is thick means is approve. ICA has approved my CO's PR application exactly 1 month...Maybe is due to the recently pay raise!

X-Ray results can be taken instantly, while the HIV reports takes about 3 days. Congrats hor, so when kopi on you?

S'pore man tries to stop wife's deportation

A WEEK after he laid eyes on her on the streets of the southern Thai town of Hat Yai, a Singaporean man decided to spring a Thai woman out of the brothel where she worked and marry her.

But last October, a month before they were due to wed at the Registry of Marriages, 24-year-old Amue Athu was arrested when she tried to extend her social visit pass. He was jailed for one year after pleading guilty to returning to Singapore despite being banned from entering the country.

Since then, her 31-year-old fiance, Mr Wai Keen Weng has been battling to free her and stop her being deported.

On Friday, Amue's case was heard in the High Court after the lawyer Mr Wai engaged, Mr R.S. Bajwa, petitioned for her conviction to be quashed.

He argued that she should not have been banned from entering Singapore in 2004 as she was a victim of human trafficking who had been coerced into working here as a prostitute.

Mr Bajwa also argued that Amue had unwittingly pleaded guilty because she could not understand the court proceedings, even though they were interpreted in Thai. She belongs to the Akha hilltribe, which lives in the province of Chiang Rai in the extreme north of Thailand and has its own language.

But it was Justice Lee Seiu Kin who raised the issue of whether Amue had been lawfully deported in 2004.

A person is guilty of unlawful return if he enters Singapore after being 'removed or otherwise lawfully sent out'.

When Amue first entered the country in 2004, she was arrested by police, referred to the immigration authorities and repatriated the next day.

Justice Lee said that for the current charge to stand, there must be a legal basis for Amue's removal from Singapore.

The case has been adjourned to next Tuesday for further submissions.

It's definitely more than 30...think 40 plus...

furthermore 1 of the nurse at SATA Jurong East is very rude...is a Melayu and she assume all PRC can speak Eng... when u cant catch what she is trying to say..she will raised her voice..until the whole place can hear...saw some PRC males (guess they r applyin for WP) kena from her....

The thing is this girl was trafficked mentioned in the papers right?
ICA never detect that?? They actually use a non-certified thai translator??
I heard that most of those Akha, Hmong, Karen do not speak Thai.

What if there is really proof to show that she is really being trafficked?
