Whoever that is stepping into the Chelsea hotseat certainly has a pair of big boots to fill now....I reckon Grant will get the job given his cosy relationship with Roman..Given the numerous quarrels that have erupted over the months, Roman will surely love the idea of an ally leading his team on the field....

Mourinho was the face of the successful Chelsea, and now Roman wants to be the face of the all-time European Champion Chelsea.

but hor...a little friendly "egg n chicken" debate here...even with roman's billions, w/o JM, could chelsea have achieve what they have for the past few years under a diff manager???

So Grant's got the job at Stamford Bridge and this only strengthens the belief that sometimes it's not what you know BUT WHO YOU KNOW.

One of my fav managers is Vincente Del Bosque - shrewd tactician. Also a victim of "office" politics...haiz

It's pretty clear that Avram was brought in to replace Mourinho on a short term basis. The initial reason given was his arrival was solely to fine tune Shevchenko. Can you imagine ? It's as good as saying Shevchenko, apart from having his personal masseuse (other players don't), he could have his personal coach too!

Now the pressure is even greater on Shevchenko. He will save Roman's blushes if he suddenly rises to peak form.

Definitely bro, Ranieri was almost there...but he wasn't given enough time allowance, Jose inherited a squad with arrivals made by Ranieri (most notably Cech & Robben).

Jose Mourinho would be difficult to replace with his persona and tactics, for sure - but Roman is irreplaceble - that is without doubt.

I only got advice for Grant, don't win the FA Cup. Vialli, Gullit and now Mourinho won it...off they went the next season....

For purely economic reasons, Shev and Ballack MUST play as their combined weekly income exceeds 250K pounds. It's pure stupidity to just buy and park 250K pounds of talent on the bench and do Fxxx off, right? There must be some decent ROI. And since dear old Shevy is pally with Roman and die die must play, now Mr Grant must fit the team to Shevy's style, which also includes Ballack (assuming he's still ard and not shipped off to Real).

I don't think winning titles or trophies entitles anyone to keep their job safe. There can be many reasons to sack a manager. Even the Special One said it himself -
