Re: HIV screening info

Hi bros, I read that in order for the test to be accurate we must at least wait for one month before taking the test. But I found a website www.hiv.sg . It state that it can diagnose the test as early as 12days after the exposure. I wonder any bro went for it before might sharing the experience and cost?

Re: HIV screening info

Dear Bros,
HIV screening is all about timing. The right test at the right time means accuracy.
< 3days – see doc and discuss if you need PEP. Doc will see how high risk you are and recommend as appropriate.
12 days – HIV RNA PCR. Dam expensive. Only tests for HIV-1. But the earliest available test for you to be cock sure.
28 days – HIV P24 Ag/Ab combination test.
3 months – HIV ELISA. HIV Rapid Tests (Oraquick or Determine). Understand from MOH that Determine is marginally more accurate than Oraquick.
I think best thing to do is just get the cheap rapid test every 6 months. Unless unexpected things happen like condom burst, or the girl tell you after bonking that she got HIV (yes happen to one of my bros. Luckily i got him on PEP like lightning)
Last thing, trust the tests. If you dun have HIV means you dun have HIV. There is this thing called AIDS Phobia where the fear of HIV actually causes people’s lives to fall apart. Have seen people go through it. Very nasty. Please be aware of this and guard yourself against it.
Hope everyone found this useful.

Re: HIV screening info

Hi guys,

Ive been buying & testing HIV from this seller. Hope this will help.

http://aidstestkit.blogspot.com/

* HIV 1+2 Tests

A rapid direct binding- screening test for the presence of antibodies
of AIDS HIV 1 and HIV 2 virus.
* Easy to read: Tri- line design. Two test lines indicate HIV 1
and HIV 2 infection respectively.
* Convenient to use: Only use 1 drop of blood.
Considerate design for home pack, include all necessary
attachments.
* Quick Result: Read result at 10-15 minutes.
* Private: Whole blood type are designed for home use.
Blank packs are available.

HIV test kit, test and safe to use. Reliable and safe.
HIV Self Test Kits is the same test approved for and used in hospitals and clinics nationalwide to test for HIV
Easy to Use Fewer steps than other HIV tests
HIV Self Test Kit takes only 2 minutes
Economicalc Order 2 or more tests and save

My HIV test is negative (-). Why do I need to retest?
You need to retest in case you are in the "window period", the time between exposure to HIV and the presence of detectable antibody to HIV in the blood. This can take from 2 to 12 weeks for the majority of people, and occasionally, as long as 6 months.

What is a false positive HIV test?
Occasionally, a person will get a positive (+) blood test to a disease which he or she does not have. Science has a name for this--"biological false positive". This is why it is so important that a positive (+) HIV test be followed by more HIV tests by a doctor to confirm whether the person is infected or not.

How does HIV SELF TEST KITS work?
You stick your finger with the one-time use lancet and allow one drop of blood to fall into the sample well. Then 2 drops of a developer solution are added. Over the next few minutes, your blood migrates up into the test area. If your blood contains the antibody to HIV (present only if you have been exposed to and infected by HIV), it will attach at an area marked "T" for "test". A pink line appears to show that this has occurred. If there is no pink line next to "T", then there is no HIV detected in the blood at that time.

How accurate is HIV SELF TEST KITS?
The overall accuracy is 99%.

Re: HIV screening info

Hi there, just checking when we go to the anonymous HIV test sites(clinics) they say the lancets they used r disposable? Although the chances are very close to zero but IF the doctor were to screw up n re-use the lancet n right before was a HIV+ person what are the chances of getting HIV from the lancet? Thanks.

Re: HIV screening info

that's a scary thought bro. can't find any scientific stats on it but would assume the risk is not that high. not like sharing needles with drug users.

wat u can do is check with the doc the needle is brand new.
those disposable ones come with a yellow stick that is used to arm the thing and pulled out and thrown away. like grenade. cannot put back one.

the other type that is put into the machine comes with a round plastic cap.

just sight the needle before the doc use it.

Dr Tan @ Robertson Walk Anonymous HIV test

Went down to Dr Tan at Robertson Walk in the morning, small clinic but not many people so not so paiseh. Just tell the recep you want an anonymous test and straight away she ask you to fill up a questionaire. No names, nric, contact asked!

Anyway, went down because a condom broke and i read about the PEP (Post-exposure prophylaxis) read more Here: http://www.drtanandpartners.com/ther...cept%e2%80%a6/

Overall a rapid hiv test was taken and the result came out in like 5mins, glad it was negative but dr advise to go back after 3 months to test again. Dr Tan is a knowledgable and friendly doctor. Definitely better than my first visit last year at DSC. DSC is very crowded.
