oh, last month out of being of bit tired of life ventured to try to cross a overhead bridge near Pasay / Edsa ... in daylight ... when I saw few guys spotting me, or watching me, I took a fast jog back to hotel ....

In Malate, please be careful of your valuables, especially in the area around LA Café. Always ignore the touts showing photographs of girls in skimpy outfit. Otherwise while you are being distracted by the photographs, the street children will suddenly appear from behind, tug at your pants and go looking for your wallet and mobile phones.

In Malate, try not to carry too much cash or smartphones with you.
In fact, my friend resorted to putting money in his socks on our last trip.

Any dangerous area will be on the perimeter of Chinatown. U may suffer a cultural shock there and you'll just want to hop onto a taxi and get away asap, before the street children come knocking on the taxi window or trying to open the taxi door. Don't care whether the taxi meter is on or not, just get away!!!

I have paid by CC at LACafe/MBc and few places, never had issue

but be careful for card skimming

safest option, keep CC for hotel payment and all else cash, put spare cash in Underwear / socks

or get those inner wallets that go around your hip and less obvious

Zzyzx: u can wear ur shorts and sneakers here; looks like the club don't give a crap about how u look.

Approached a 19yo student who used the I-noticed-you-the-moment-you-walked-in tactic. Super clichéd but works on me. Got talking, dancing and then the question, 'how much?' Instant mood killa, much. Wanted 4k. Wasn't' interested but wanted to see if she was really a student so she flashed her student pass. Even told me the Philippines university culture is different, etc.

Great club but crawling with FLs, still. Worth checking out after 1 when the girls have all knocked off. Apologies if this has been covered.

Stayed in Copacabana (hotel just opp EDSA Entertainment Complex) several times, crossed the infamous bridge several times as well , including night time , including 3 am at night

Somehow, it's really not as scary as you guys make it out to be. And my last visit was in Jan this year. First in 1995 or 1996. Even walked from hotel to the nearby bus terminal to take bus to Subic via Dau etc.

What do I usually do to stay clear ?

• Wear very simple clothes e.g. Bermuda, T-Shirt
• Watch less than $200 and not flashy looking
• No touristy sunglasses, holding map in hand, straw hat etc.
• 4 or 5 credit cards...Keep 2 or 3 safely in the hotel room locker.
• Carry very little cash as most bars accept credit cards even for bar fine. At any time I have at most 3K Pesos in my wallet. Remaining all in the safe deposit locker.
• Never carry passport along. Leave it in the safe deposit locker.
• Smartphone stays in the hotel. Cheap phone follows with call divert or multi-SIM.

With risks so low, and so little to loose, I don't mind getting mugged actually

So the key message is take precautions & then cheong happily, confidently and without fear , don't cheong with fear ....
