Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
RAFA ON ROTATION
Paul Hassall 28 September 2007 Do you get bored of all the talk about rotation? At Valencia it was the same. I was there three years and I remember in my first season we were 13 games unbeaten and they were saying maybe he will be sacked. Even after 13 games without losing. I was rotating the players and then in one particular game against Espanyol they said if he loses he will get the sack. We were losing 2-0 at half-time and I took off (Pablo) Aimar, who was the star of the team and then we won 3-2 and people said I was lucky! You need to take these decisions and when you analyse your squad you know that during the season you will make some mistakes. But you must look at the big picture and maybe with one mistake you have prepared the team for 10 other games. Torres was talking about having fresh legs but if you use him against Birmingham and then against Reading maybe he will not be ready for playing against Wigan and Marseille. In this case I am sure 100 per cent certain that I made the right decision. Alvaro Arbeloa is one player who you have not rotated this season. What qualities does he have that has seen him play every minute so far? Arbeloa has been playing because we didn't have too many options in this position. But now we have Aurelio fit and Riise fit again, he will fight with Finnan and we will see if he can play fewer games. People are talking about letting players play a lot of games now. They can do it. I don't say that they cannot, they can play 20, 25 games, 30 games in a row if you want, no problem, everybody can do it. The problem is at the end of the season after 30 games, after 40 games. It is in the last 10 to 15 matches when you are playing for trophies, that you must be fresh. If you don't do something now you cannot change it later. If you play against a club that has 24 players in the squad and they are changing the players, the last 10 to 15 games they will be ready, they will be fit and you will not be ready because you cannot change the physical condition of a player in one week. You need months and if you cannot change it then maybe you will play for trophies and you will lose. So it's all about looking at the big picture? We are playing for finals. We want to play the last game of the season in the Champions League final. You cannot play the last games, the FA Cup and the two Champions League finals that we have been in, without the team being fit, without changing players. That is clear. When you are playing to win trophies, you need to analyse everything. The last 10 to 15 games I need Fernando Torres fit. I don't need Fernando Torres fit for playing against Birmingham now if I have Kuyt, Voronin and Crouch. I need maybe the speed of Fernando Torres in the last game of the season, in the final of the Champions League or to win the Premier League. These are the decision the manager needs to take.

RAFA: ROTATION SYSTEM WILL WORK AGAIN
Paul Eaton 29 September 2007 Rafael Benitez has again stressed he won't be persuaded to veer away from his much talked about rotation system at Anfield. With Fernando Torres' omission from the starting eleven last weekend dominating the thoughts of most Liverpool fans during the week, the manager has again explained his thinking behind decisions which he believes will give the Reds a better chance of success come the end of the season. "As a manager, you need to see the bigger picture and think about the whole season, " he said. "If we need to use our big names in every game at Anfield against teams like Birmingham, then maybe we won't be good enough to win trophies at the end of the season. "If you say to me that I would have had to play Torres to be capable of beating Birmingham, then I'd say that we couldn't win the league. "Sometimes I will make mistakes, but I was 100 per cent sure it wasn't a mistake not to play Torres against Birmingham. Kuyt and Voronin had been playing well, and at home at Anfield against Birmingham, I thought we had enough to win. "Why are we talking about Torres now and weren't when Kuyt and Voronin were scoring in the Champions League? The answer is because we were winning those games. We're only talking about Torres not playing because we drew with Portsmouth and Birmingham. "I've done the same for seven years now and we've been winning trophies. The last 10 games of the season are probably the most important and you won't win anything if your players aren't physically ready. "Torres can play 20 or 30 games in a row without any problem, but he won't be at the same level in the last few months of the season when we hope to be playing for trophies. "We've played a final at the end of each season I've been here. Why? Because we've had a big squad without maybe as many bigger players as we have now, and were going into games with fresh legs. That proves that the system can work." Personally, I think he'll still start with Torres later today ... just to make sure the winning momentum is maintained. But, if he doesn't I can understand why too. After all, big men are paid to win wars while small boys only concentrate on winning battles. Think about it.

Yeah... as long as young and can ride injuries no problem. Too much hacking can lead to problems. Look at Owen. Until now still never recovered

At first ... I only remembered Carlton Palmer from his time with Leeds but then again, I think his era was much more recent than the other 2.
Anyway ... 1) Gary O-Reilly ... http://www.sporting-heroes.net/footb...sp?HeroID=8713 2) Gary Stevens ... http://www.sporting-heroes.net/footb...sp?HeroID=6116 3) Carlton Palmer http://www.sporting-heroes.net/footb...sp?HeroID=1659

Carling Cup draw: Liverpool return for Fowler
Robbie Fowler is set for a quick return to Anfield after his Cardiff side were drawn at Liverpool in the fourth round of the Carling Cup. The 32-year-old left the Merseyside club for the second time at the end of last season when he was not offered a new contract by manager Rafael Benitez, but he remains massively popular among the Reds faithful. Cardiff won the race for his signature and he has scored four goals in five starts for the Bluebirds, including a brace in their midweek Carling Cup win over West Brom.

Liverpool 1 Wigan 0
Just came back from kopitiam watching the game, definitely got a few heart stopping moment man, I mean Liverpool can consider themselves lucky to win it, I mean it was a hard fight. Torres definitely got 2 very good opportunity to score but first one just missed squeezing thru Kirkland legs and second one well guess he is practising for the goal of the season, aka bicycle kick that went wide...hmm maybe Crouch can give hime a tip how to score one What I'm glad is that finally Rafa start to get his substitution correct in the league (I mean he always got it spot on in th CL with his tactics and subsitution) Yossi goal gets the loudest cheer tonight at the kopitiam. Well, the so called "mini-crisis" is hopefully behind us and now look forward to the CL with Mars team visiting our "red shrine" YWNA |

Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Agreed it's a nice goal, hopefully he take over the mantle of our another midfielder, Luis Garcia and score some important and spectacular goals for us. Rafa just mentioned that Yossi is the type who is creative and cut-in field and create something when the game is finely balanced.
