Mongering – beer bar
Never has been a fan of beer bar. Do not really like to do the things in public. But did a couple nonetheless to have a feel of the place and also to catch the Community Shield between Arsenal and Chelsea. They seem to be the only with the live game.
Price wise, beer bar is not cheap. It’s pricing structure is similar to that of an agogo. In actual fact, Bar Funk 3 which is an Aussie bear bar and another in Tiger complex actually charged B280 for a Lady drink. The thing about beer bar is that the girls are not so pushy for the next LD and can keep you occupied for quite a while. I mean I only buy 2 for a girl throughout the 2 hour football match. Cannot give much advice on this as I seldom do beer bar. Only one probably is choose the girl, not the bar.

Mongering – disco

I had a very good experience with girls from disco in my last trip and actually had a sibling threesome. So was hoping for the same this time round but was quite disappointed. Typical price of a drink in these disco is about B200, with the random promotion here and there. For larger group (3 onward), I advise that you take the bottle (cheapest about B1,600) as it comes with 4-6 mixers and a good table in the house.

Went to 3 disco in total, Taipan, Hollywood and Tiger. Did not try Iluzion and Seduction cos they portray themselves as up-market uses a lot of Russian promoters and I not very interested in. The common point for these discos is they only hot up after 1am. This is when the beer bars start to close and the girls who work in these bar who cannot score a barfine come over to hunt for their food. In a sense, they are cheaper as you would have save on the barfine and since it is really late, there is little differential in ST or LT price. It is hard to comment on quality of the girls as one man’s meat is probably another’s poison. Short summary of my feel of the few disco I went to.

Hollywood – went there at about 3am. Really small place as compared to the other 2 and it is really crowded. Quite a hyped up place with nice music.

Tiger – This disco is huge. Spectacular lay out with a lot of Tiger and snakes figurine and decoration throughout the establishment. Massive 3D figurines which are larger than live size make the place quite spectacular. The crowd here is very middle-eastern I feel as they cater a fair bit to these middle-eastern crowd with their music. Not to my liking.

Tai Pan – A disco with a very distinct local feel. I kind of enjoy this most but it has its own drawback. Loads of local songs and many dancers (more than 20) who are dressed in luminous Taipan tops. These dancers dance on stage about 6-7 at a time and the rest of time they will minger with the crowd, not unlike the Thai disco in Golden Mile. The standard conversation breakers (similar to agogo) are where you from, first time here, stay how long and end with can get me a drink? Each drink is B280 and you can hardly do anything with her. The atmosphere is quite relax in Taipan if you ignore these dancer’s request. From time to time, they will like throw T-shirts and B20 notes to the floor for the crowd to go crazy over. I got my girls last year from this place and got another this year as well. Just have to say lighting is important. Cost me B2000 to learn this.

Transport
This is the curse of Phuket and the reason why its development is confine to that of the surrounding of Jungceylon and Bangla Street. The taxis and tuk tuk are really pricey and restrict tourist movement. People will think twice about moving around as transportation cost build up really quickly.

I kept my cost really low as my hotel is in Soi San Sabai, like 30m from Bangla. When i reached airport, i took the mini-van transfer that cost B180 to the hotel. Maybe 30-45mins longer than a taxis ride, but its significant saving compared to a cab ride of B700. If 4 person is sharing the cost, cab is the way to go.

Ventured out on a day to Phuket town. Took the local bus along beach Road. Just get yourself to Beach Road and wait there for a light blue vehicle with yellow stripe moving at snail pace, picking up people along the road. There should be a header that read Patong - Phuket town. Cost B30. Need to have an idea if where you heading to though. My destination was Central Festival in Phuket Town and i did not explore further than that. To return, cross the road to the opposite road and wait. The local say the frequency is 20mins, but i waited for more than that.

My return to airport is more costly as i have a 945 flight. Booked a cab from one of the many travel agent booth for B700. Minivan at B200 per pax is available at these booth.

Mongering - agogo
I am quite a sucker for agogo. However, the agogo is quite disappointing to me. The quality of the girls and the fun factor is not comparable to anything Pattaya and Bangkok have to offer. Plus the Suzy Wing group pretty much controlled 6-7 out of the about 10 agogo there, there is no inventive for the agogo to impress. To each its own, but i certainly did not enjoy myself. The pressure for LD is quite bad and the girl kept ordering the Tequila shot which have the bill running really fast. Damage own drink is about B100 for local beer and 200-240 for LD. The action is similar to agogo in Bkk or Patts.

The turn off for me in Phuket agogo is really the stupid payment system. In Bkk and Patts, there is always a bill bin. You pay for everything at the end. In Phuket, they expect you to pay after every purchase. Worst thing is they almost expect a tip every time. Say you buy a B180 drink, you pay B200, they will not bother giving you the change. Say you buy a 240 LD and pay with B500, they will return you change in B220 note and then B40 in coin. And a word of caution, sometime they will take donkey year to give your change, hopefully you will forget it after indulging in the naked girl's company. I need to chase for the change in no less than 3 occasion. So my advice is bring plenty of loose B20 notes. I don't mind tipping but my name is not carrot.

Never tru to BF the girl from agogo so cannot comment on the rate. Do not see value in paying a barfine and then paying crazy rate for girls from agogo. Moreover, you probably have seem it all and touch it all already. I get my girl for the 3 nights from other channels. (To be continued - quite xiong writing on iphone. Will continue with Mongering - beer bar and disco, mongering - wechat, miscellaneous observations some other day)
