Well.. all I can say is, you get more battle-hardened by the experience. I've learnt a few precious lessons from all of this, and for whoever cares to carry on reading, here's a simple snapshot of my key takeaways (horrible business jargon I know, but I like to use it simply because it really pisses people off when I do ) out of my latest trip. It's all nothing new and each of our resident Thai gurus would be the first in line to say "I told you so!", but sometimes, nothing beats going through the entire experience yourself and learning through the pain. That way, it never leaves you.- There are many, many, MANY hot girls in Bangkok. There's just too many, and I can't bring myself to believe why some of the best just aren't snapped up by their own locals yet! I mean, I can't fathom why perfectly hot, sweet, cute city girls in Bangkok are still single for the most part! Stick a bitchy Singaporean equivalent who's half as hot in that same situation and you'll be getting stuck with holding on to queue numbers, buying flowers everyday, recording mixtapes, camping outside her house for a month and threatening to kill yourself just to get her to talk to you! - Sticking to one single girl when you're trying to have a good time in Bangkok shows signs of inexperience, and to a greater extend, immaturity in playing the scene. For every hot girl that you meet whom you think is different, special, one-of-a-kind, there will always be another better, hotter, more naruk, more GFE-obliging one lurking in the background waiting patiently for your time. - Thai relationships are extremely volatile, and absolutely nothing like the ones we experience back home. Where local Singaporeans would roll over, cry and give everything into fostering anything resembling a future with the opposite sex, the Thai way of mai pen rai-ing everything in their lives, for good or bad, cannot be underestimated. Their (to us, anyway) refreshing attitude and approach to work, school, relationships, and life in general is in stark contrast, and probably a learning lesson, to Singaporeans who tend to treat everything too seriously, putting too much thought into the most routine of experiences and planning every minute detail of their lives to death. Maybe both camps can learn from each other to achieve a healthy balance. - The night scene is a huge one, and they all love the occasional party, but the average Thai, even those working the circuit at night (I'm referring only to G-Clubs based on my own experiences) are down-to-earth, friendly, accommodating and good people at heart. Those "bargirl cheats farang out of love and money" stories you too often hear on the internet are still plentiful and valid, but more often than not, not every Thai girl is out to con you, especially if you're talking about city dwellers who are more than capable of earning their own keep. - Boy, can Thais party! I'd never have had the time of the day if I were out and about in Zouk or St James with girls physically half as decent as those in Thailand, but a simple visit to Funky Villa in Thong Lor on a Saturday night ended with 2 extra numbers in my phone book (both offered to me without me having to ask) and a request for a dinner date - just by smiling and talking to them with a drink in hand! I brought sand to the beach and my G-Club girl was extremely jealous, but all's in good in the name of fun once I assured her I wouldn't follow up. I mean, these were perfectly attractive girls out partying, having a good time, casually meeting people without consideration for any sort of tension or sexual politics in play, and I didn't even have to try that hard! In Singapore, it's the proverbial digging your way through the scraps to offer to buy a drink for a lady who isn't even that hot to begin with, only for her to roll her eyes away from your direction, impolitely decline and sub-consciously label you a semi-pervert when talking about what just happened in front of her friends.
