Yes to all that, but the problems Hong Kong has is quite deep rooted, stemming from the need to Kow Tow to the ultimate rulers, our brethren in the mainland, whilst these same rulers maintaining outwards appearances of allowing us freedom and democracy - yeah right!!

This alone causes all sorts of discontent and unnecessary clashes/controversies; but worse, we now got ourselves an ineffective Chief Executive who is tarnished with all sorts of suggestions of a lack of moral authority/backroom dealings.

All this perhaps not suitable for a sex board as this - so perhaps best just to leave this discussion with my suggestion that y'all try to enjoy Hong Kong best for as long as we all can; I really do see my beloved place going down in an inextricable downward spiral.

Just out of curiosity - is she really THAT great? I mean that you'd even actually try to catch her in Seoul, Hong Kong, Singapore etc!

I've of course never tried her, but I hear/read that she's a bit too potty mouthed/Americanized and not what one would usually expect for a Korean girl.

Honestly, I think HKers should do more to let the govt know that they dun want more mainland pple in. These mainlanders are atrocious, i tell you.

Eg 1) At Lowu checkpoint you can see hoards of china villagers carry their plastic luggage (or fake copycats) queuing in line, all set to emigrate. Somemore has the nerve to ask the immigration officer why the line for HK residents so fast and the line for mainlanders so slow. THE NERVE.

Eg 2) Hongkong TV shows interviewing china demanding HK schools to open up places for their kids because their kids are born in HK. As in, DEMAND, CAPITAL D. Them asking HK govt where is the 'human rights' in HK, why china kids cannot enrol in HK schools. Absolute Utter Lack Of Shame, all capital letters. And what is HK TV doing, broadcasting that kind of programme ? You seriously want china kids to flood ur pri schools ???

The Hong Kong ECONOMY - yes as a whole but with just about all of such benefits going to the landlords, the hotel owners, the high-end retailers, the tour agents..

But for the rest of us, all it means is higher rents, inflation, over-crowding, having to share our infrastructure with these rude poeple, whilst the wages of the common man remain stagnant.

Hong Kong is not a manufacturing center any more and all that these tourists consume are all imported - whether from overseas or more likely the mainland. All the regular Joe in Hong Kong makes out of them is the paltry wages as shopkeepers or waiters (which have remained stagnant for the past decade or so).

It's not only that - and whilst you've correctly pointed out the sad fact that we have too many recent PRC arrivals who cannot even speak the language and thus unemployable/now already living on welfare that we tax payers provide for - these tourists actually do NOT benefit the regular man on the street.

As I pointed out, most of the goods they buy/consume is imported and whilst shopkeepers and traders should actually benefit from this upturn in economy by getting wage increases, the sad fact is that these same shopkeepers/traders are being squeezed by ever higher rents - doubling or even tripling in some cases and thus if they want to stay in business, they can only squeeze their own workers.

As I pointed out, Hong Kong has one of the highest Gini Coefficient in the developed world and is comparable to those lesser places in SE Asia, Africa and S. America.

And are these all really tourists? How about those parallel goods traders who are actually working illegally (by breaching their conditions of stay by working at the trade), driving up the prices of even the most basic of commodities - baby milk powder whilst making border crossings a horrendous experience?

Or those pregnant mothers with no ties whatsoever to Hong Kong, coming over and again overwhelming our maternity wards - just for them to be able to get a HK Identity card for their child...which of course "entitles" them to the good and FREE Hong Kong education system.

Or the fact that shops that caters to the daily needs of Hong Kong citizens - i.e. corner grocery stores, cheaper restaurants/cafes, laundry shops, vet clinics etc etc are all driven out of business as the mega stores who caters to these tourists are willing to pay ever higher rents for their shops...which for the most part is of little use to us locals?

Benefit the economy?? Depends on which part of the economy you're talking about. Certainly NOT the economy for the regular guy on the street.

Yes, SEAJ, seems that Singapore is in a similar situation. Rich Mainland Chinese, Indian Tycoons, South East Asian Elite from Indonesia, Vietnam... all rush to Singapore for reasons which cannot be explicitly mentioned but can be deduced from case below:-
It was reported (Bloomberg) that there are almost 90,000 Indonesian Multi-millionaires (in terms of 10's of millions USD) who are residing in Singapore and their wealth are ALL being investigated by the Indonesian authorities.
