I am working in Bangkok and enjoying life. Many do well in SG but yet they leave the country to explore newer boundaries, it's a personal choice. For me it was easy as i am offered a position/opportunity i can't say no to and my girlfriend of many years is Thai. How long will i be here? Well, i at least for the next 3 years indefinitely, after that we shall see. I can't see myself retire at 50 plus but then i still have a long way to go.

Yup, pattaya is filled with retirees. The point i was making previously was the difference between living and enjoying. As in your sentence, you posted earlier, i would presume your retirement would be more enjoyment than living, i thought it was a tat pessimistic of you.

I am more traditional in my retirement plan, seeing my kids and wife having a stable life and spending as much time with them.

But probably i be in LOS, Laos, burma or Vietnam when i in my early fifties lolx.....Singapore economy is going to be unpredictable in the next 10-20 years, ppl in sillypore still thinking our country can earn alot of money very easily, doing business in an unsatured singapore may not get you big returns liao i will say for now. I think we cannot be narrow minded liao, need to save for rainy days then c how....

OF Cos, if you Lee Ka Shing's illegimate son, your step uncle is dell's founder or u are related to temasek holdings or maybe u freaking sponsored by those dubai fellas who bought Manchester City or PSG or u are a affiliate member of the Indian Steel tycoon or u indirecting now in Russia collect dirty money from the billionaires and Valdimir Putin, then pls go ahead and retire at 30 years old, dont waste ur youth HAHAHAHAHA....

LOL bro, when we 40 plus liao, u think we still can chiong club like chiong jungle when we in NS? impossible, probably a few beers and not ur bottle of martell, maybe one shot wif bar girl in 3 days and not 3 shot in one day!

When u old, how u derive enjoyment can be different. For me, one or two pint of beer, watch agg bar naked girls to make ur eyes alive and you are contend inside ur heart(for bachelor lah lol..), makan thai food with the ice coffee then take baht bus around, maybe go watch muay thai competitions sometimes.

You can say i am low profile(probably little traditional style) chiongster coz u wont see me getting rowdy, at there pressing the girls tits or rub her pussy inside the bar and talk about purely sex, i rather leave tt in the room lah. When u got long time wife or spouse, not necessarily always sex, but maybe planning the future for ur kid lol....

Re: Curious about life, culture and women in LOS

astreal69, thanks for your views on Stickman's site. I agree with most of what you said. As an Asian myself, I tend to perceive many issues differently from white men, such as culture and expenditure, given that Singaporeans have more in common with Thais than with white people (sometimes even Asians) from western nations.

However, some of the articles involving relationships, urban life in Thailand, domestic tourism and general cost of living are useful to everyone, regardless of their ethnicity or nationality.

stillgotheblue, not all ang mohs are supericial and hypocritical. You must realise that ang mohs have personalities that are as diverse as the ones we asians have. When we Singaporeans are abroad, locals might lump us all into a single category (emotionless, unhappy, kiasu and lack of solid opinions) despite our attempts to shift away from the aforementioned stereotype associated with our nationality. At my former workplace (worked there part-time for almost two years) in Singapore, I've come across cocky ang mohs who look down on Asians, pretend we don't exist and certainly uphold every sense of the word "emotionless". In that same workplace, however, I came across ang mohs who behaved in a cultured and respectful manner, often not being afraid to admit their mistakes when they were in the wrong.

Just as "superficial and hypocritical" "ang moh[s] deserve [whatever negative outcomes that they wrote about on Stickman's website]", like-minded Asians also deserve the same fate. I must admit that some of the love stories on Stickman's site seem grossly exaggerated as a result of man's wild imaginations. Furthermore, the concept of HIV/AIDs and other STDs does not seem to reside (seems rather utopian, dosen't it?) in Stickman's site, which is why I read his site solely to gain knowledge on matters pertaining to finance, food, domestic tourism and urban life. For the sex and relationships part, I'd rather rely on experienced SBF members here.

An essay from me....

No leh, I am doing quite well in SG but still left. An example, those who knows car in the older days, will know how much it costed to drive a Honda SIR. I am earning more than my peer at my age. After years in regional sales, I was given an opportunity to base in Jakarta as Country Manager with expat package which I took it. From then on, I have not return to SG to work. Soon after Jakarta, I went Hanoi, Bangkok and now Phnom Penh.

Have been working in oversea for past 7-8 years. Now ask me go back SG to work, I a bit sian. I have no car, to buy a car, I need to loan about 100k. To take MRT, I have to squeeze with so many people. Compare to now, I am driving my company Lexus with company pay petrol. I stay in an apartment with maid. I can drink beer in pub at 1.5usd per mug. I spend like king here and the best part my monthly spending is about 1000usd which include my apartment rent.

Depending on individual ideal for retirement, some love night scene. Some love beaches... For me, it will be more likely to be in Huahin or Chiang Mai.

If I want sex n drink in Pattaya, just book a hotel room, drive 2-3 hrs from Huahin. Take this as a R&R for me.

jealous... Here in SG, monthly spending including rent can easily hit $2k and above... without even living a lavish lifestyle. Rental for one room already $600-$700. Sigh.

I like your essay, bro naemlo. Wish I could up you for that. Sadly, I'm powerless (luckily not penisless, though) to do so. I am happy to know that you are living life the way you should. Are you still in Phnom Penh now?

Singapore is 1 of the most expensive city to stay in. It is always good to earn SGD and spend in other city. I always hear my friends favorite words or slogan, "cheap, cheap, cheap" when they visit me

Slight inflation is healthy for a growing economy. Agree that life is unfair but u also must fight or look out for good opportunity.

Re: Curious about life, culture and women in LOS

Nonteerak2553, when I discovered the Sticks in late Dec 2012, browsing the site was part of my daily regimen until about a week ago. I'm there not in particular for the sex-related articles; I find them repetitive and dull. On the contrary, I love articles submitted by readers as well as by Stickman himself that focus on the beautiful sights and culture shocks associated with regional travel.

Naemlo, I'm guessing you're still based in Phnom Penh, a city which I've always been curious about. In fact, I've been following the Phnom Penh thread in the International Field Reports sub-forum. Wherever you are, stay happy
