Nowadays league cup 3rd round no more extra-time or replay, straight to penalty-shootout. Last nite saw Ex-Red goalie Danny ward saved 3 out 4 penalties for Leicester agst Wolves. Hopefully our butter fingers goalie Mignolet is up for the task tonight and make himself a hero as well.

Didn’t watch but looking at lineups except Milner n Mane all are bench players.

Let me see if I can sum this up

last year‘s defense last year‘s problems. Too many missed opportunities. Terrible ref. Brilliant goal by opposition player. That said, I don’t really care much about this cup. I’ll take a win on the weekend over this loss any day.

We move on to Saturday at the Bridge.

P.S. Shout out to Mignolet, thought he had a good game and was not responsible for either goal.

JK gave the bench players a run out. All except Mane and Milner are first XI. Whereas Chelsea played 4 to 5 first XI.

The goal that Hazard score was a defensive shambles. No defenders closed down the lad. VVD and Gomez will not allow Hazard to come so near to goal.

Best chance of a trophy gone. As they always says, Ah Klopp is building something special.

3yrs and counting.
Even Ah Klopp putting out his favourite, much-maligned 1st choice defence of Mignolet, Moreno, Lovren, Matip at the beginning of last season who still can't keep a clean sheet. Moreno can't defend even his life depends on it, he is only good going forward. Why they are even stiil around( Mignolet, Moreno, Lovren)is my beef with Ah Klopp to this day. Much rather they lose with a bunch of youngsters like Grabara, Nathaniel Phillips, Rafael Camacho to gain some experience.
The only bright side to me is seeing the less of Mignolet, Moreno, Lovren until January in the FA cup. Then again with Ah Klopp, you never know, can you.

I disagree with your viewpoints.
Liverpool is not strong enough to be able to compete on all fronts so I think it is their plan all along has been to just compete on 2 fronts....the BPL and CL.

But they have to respect the other mickey mouse competitions so need to show some wayang drama and then lose those matches.

I thought I caught a sly smile on JK's face when the final whistle was blown

Duno what Pool sees in him? Find Keita also not worth the £65m paid for him.The usual saying will always be give them time to settle down.For Moreno I shake head, duno what to say?

Chelsea has always been better than Pool for the past few encounters n Hazard has always been the main threat. It was a brilliant goal he scored last night.
Would be happy with a draw for Pool this Sat.

Actually I am with you.

I was quite happy to see bench players playing. Wonder why Mane and Milner playing?

Also happy that lost in this mickey cup can help to reduce injury scare. Also prove that bench players are not good enough but alright to sit on bench. Superstars will not keen to sit on bench too long and request for transfer.

Cannot say that this is a cup Pool doesn't want!
I am sure Pool wants this cup badly as Pool has not won anything @ all for the past how many seasons I couldn't remember already.
Remember during the good old Bob Pasiely days, Pool won this cup many times! It was also a great morale booster.

When you lose no need to be so defensive.
X number of first teams players vs X number of first team players.
What rubbish.
The fact is we were poor especially when finishing.
Mane and Sturridge were the main culprit.
I wanted us to get knocked out but anyone who watched the match will know we could have won.
Now let's see what happens this weekend.

Tbh i dont mind even losing in Naples on Wednesday provided we get all 6 points against Chelsea and City.

We were always going to lose sooner or later, rather it being in the League Cup than an EPL match.

Time now to see whether we are pretenders or the real deal. Its how we react to this defeat that counts.

Back to last night's match, its clear that Sturridge was not clinical enough; both he and Shaqiri failed in the high press; Fabinho is still not up to speed; Keita is still inconsistent; Moreno still cant defend.

Also think Milner or Henderson definitely starters in any competitive match unless there are unforeseen circumstances because of captaincy issue.

To sum it up, our bench still aint as strong as City's who even have a stockport inneista

and perhaps even not as strong as Chelsea's either?

Saturday's match, a lot depends on whether our regular front 3 are firing on all cylinders and clinical in finishing as well, plus how we deal with Jorginho, Hazard and Pedro(if he is fit).

Its going to be a tough one but cant wait!

Our midfield trio of Hendo Milner n Wini cannot cope with Chelsea's midfield this Sat. These trio are just too flat n predictable n there's no flair in them. Much will depend on VVD Robbo n Alisson to make an impact in defence.
