Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Indonesian government has issued a travel advisory for its citizens planning to visit Belgium following the Brussels attacks.

"We have issued a travel advisory, and it is already on the foreign ministrys website. We make an appeal to Indonesian nationals," Foreign Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi stated here on Thursday.

The travel advisory has been issued as Belgium remains on threat level four, the highest in the Belgian scale.

The Indonesian government has urged all Indonesian citizens in Belgium and Brussels, in particular, to stay vigilant and avoid places that could be targets of terror acts.

The Indonesian nationals in Belgium are also reminded to always follow the directives and advice of the local authorities to ensure their personal safety and security in locations that they would visit.

Indonesians planning to go to Brussels have been advised to temporarily postpone their visit.

If they decide to go ahead with their plan, they are requested to obtain full information on the security situation in their destinations.

Children as young as 11 are being sold for sex in Indonesia by teenagers barely older than themselves.

Two years ago, there were no reports of child pimps in the country who work as the boss with no adults behind the scenes. But the National Commission for Child Protection says 21 girls between 14 and 16 have been caught working as 'mamis' so far this year, and there are likely far more.

Many teenagers find themselves drawn into the seedy world by the lure of money or as a result of drug addiction.

17-year-old Chimoy first got into the business when she was 14. A boyfriend's sister asked her to sell herself for sex, but she recruited a friend for the job instead.

Then she established a pimping operation that grew to include a car, a house and some 30 working girls earning her up to £1,800 a month - a small fortune in a poor country.

'The money was too strong to resist,' she says. 'I was really proud to make money on my own.' Chimoy, by her own account and those of other girls and social workers, is a pimp.

Children use text messages and social media to book clients and make transactions without ever needing to stand on a dark corner in a miniskirt and heels.

'The sickening thing is you see 11-year-olds, 12-year-olds, getting into these practices,' says Leonarda Kling, Jakarta-based regional representative for Terre des Hommes Netherlands, a nonprofit working on trafficking issues.

'You think: "The whole future of this child is just going to waste."

Chimoy, who has occasionally worked as a prostitute, and other teens in the sex industry that agreed to be interviewed are identified only by their nicknames. Recently, in the eastern city of Surabaya, a 15-year-old was caught after escorting three other teens to meet clients at a hotel.

Police spokeswoman Maj. Suparti says the girl employed ten prostitutes including classmates, Facebook friends and even her older sister - and collected up to a quarter of the £30 to £90 paid for each call.

She used BlackBerry Messenger service to speak to clients, earning up to £250 a month, says Suparti.
The girl also met potential clients in malls or restaurants first to size them up.

'She was running her pimp action like a professional,' Suparti added.

Indonesian police said they had arrested three men Thursday after two Melanesian tribes clashed with machetes and arrows over a mobile phone ringtone.

Hundreds of Wamena tribesmen descended on members of the Yoka tribe on Wednesday morning in the Papua provincial capital Jayapura, after learning that Yokas were sharing a ringtone which insulted Wamenas.

The ensuing clash reportedly left 23 houses burned to the ground, another 56 damaged and 12 vehicles set ablaze. Police said no one was injured.

"We deployed dozens of police to ensure security in the city. The situation has improved after we arrested three men for allegedly composing the ringtone," Jayapura police chief Iman Setiawan told AFP.

The ringtone had a reggae beat and offensive lyrics about the neighbouring Wamena tribe, he said.

"The lyrics were considered humiliating and insulting to the Wamenas, so that triggered a spontaneous reaction," he added.

Papuan tribal groups engage in elaborate war rituals to resolve disputes, often involving arrows, spears and homemade guns.

It really depends.

If you are heading to Batam on a super ultra peak season,eg CNY long weekends or any long weekends with an attached public holiday,then likely changing at around Chinatown or Raffles place will be a bit better. Tested it out during CNY 2016.

Under normal circumstances aka normal days,changing in Batam still gives better rate. If you need some Indonesia Rupiah,my advise is to change a little bit in Singapore 1st,then go Batam to change the rest. And in Batam,changing money via most Ferry terminals area (Harbor bay/Batam Center Ferry terminal etc) or major Batam shopping malls (eg,Nagoya Hill Mall/BCS Mall etc) usually dont gives very good rate if you are making a Batam to Batam comparison. Visit those smaller individual shops,check their given rates with at least 3 different money changing shops there before committing yourself to the exchange.
