Re: what do you think of the double standard treatment on HC scene by AV?
My suggestion for Govt is to allow theme club /sauna centre to be built in Keong Saik Road so that we will have more fun.
Keong Saik Road should be upmarket Red Light District with health sauna with theme night- similar to Dongguan and Macau standard. Gay men can have more erotic funs within the club than Geylang brothel, which is restrictive. You know , Government took mature HDB estate, sell the land to private property developers ,and latter build shopping mall, hotel, office. |

Re: what do you think of the double standard treatment on HC scene by AV?
By your argument it means that AV will have to clamp down on all pubs and clubs and basically anywhere that 2 people can hookup, even supermarkets or libraries and definitely Universities.
There is a difference between providing a venue for parties/hook ups versus providing women/men for hook ups in exchange for a fee.... One is an entertainment licence and the other is a brothel licence.

I have a close gay friend who told me the same. The primary reason is u don’t go into those gay sauna places to transact, it’s both parties willingly hook up. The only way they can be caught is if govt wants to clamp down on the no homosexual penetration law, which honestly we all know they haven’t done it historically. If they have excuses to close down gay n lesbian bars, then they might as well close the normal bars too. |

Re: what do you think of the double standard treatment on HC scene by AV?
Like our neighbours, these are just distractions. It has been 7-8 years that they have lost control of the scene after breaking up the hot spots that they could control so well (even a fly have issues flying out then), and spreading such vice into the heartlands.
Nobody wants to move back to the hotspots despite the efforts by the agencies now that the operators learnt the way to operate outside. |

Re: what do you think of the double standard treatment on HC scene by AV?
Quote:
You're saying that AV should crack down on all "sexual vice" equally - both homo and hetero-sexual "vice". So you're under the assumption that AV's job, as the name suggests, is to actually "clamp down on Vice". But nothing can be further from the truth. The term "Anti-Vice" in itself is a misnomer. SG has, in its infinite wisdom already legalized several vices: 1. Money Laundering "through Legal Casinos and Banks ONLY" 2. Gambling (SPools, Turf Club, Genting Sentosa and MBS ONLY), 3. Heterosexual sex (Geylang, Keong Saik and legal joints ONLY). People think that the job of the AV is to clamp down on "Vice" - that is simply wrong. AV, as part of the Specialized Crime Division - formerly the Special Investigation Branch (SIB) of the CID crack down on activities which deprive the government of taxable revenues from the abovementioned list. Think about it. Get a Geylang OKT license, guai guai pay taxes (Income and GST) to IRAS for your brothel and you are issued "yellow card" work permits for the hookers you bring in. Do the same without paying the taxes and you're whacked for "human trafficking". 3 years jail, 6 strokes of the cane minimum for a first time offender. Run an illegal 4D or Casino operation, you get a visit from the very friendly folks at Casino Crime Investigation Branch. 6 months jail for first offender, more if you get whacked by the anti-money laundering statute. Why? Simply because SPools gambling odds are, by themselves far worse than commercial/international norms. Illegal gambling joints exist only because of this fact - S Pools sets odds that result in supernormal gambling joint margins, hence illegal joints exist. S Pools needs AV to "enforce order" and extinguish "illegal" joints which deprive the Government of its profits. Now, back to your original observation on "double standards". Homosexual vice seems to escape persecution - why so?. Well, its simple isn't it - homos do not deprive the government of any tax revenues when they're fucking one another. There is no legal avenue for the government to earn from guys who simply love to suck dick and (literally) fuck assholes and get shit all over their cocks. When homos engage in sex, all they are doing is breaking a law (S377A) that is, in itself, unenforceable. So, in a very long-winded way - this is why AV has no interest in Homo clubs. My $0.02. From someone who has probably seen too much Government Accounting to ever take anything at face value. Last edited by Penguin23; 06-01-2019 at 08:01 PM.
