I really find out my GF's sexual history b4 I go for unprotected sex, and I if I do not trust her, better to get protection then
to risk your life.

Actually the real window period is 6-8 weeks for HIV...around 95% of people infected are actually detected within 4 weeks..The 12 weeks (3 months) is just a safety line...The whole world is already using 12 weeks including canada, australia, europe,UK,NYC etc except singapore...New York City is one of the hardest hit states in US (200000++ infected people) and they are using 12 weeks as well...Thailand,Massachusetts and China are using 6 weeks as the window period and they do have a huge number of HIV patients...If a people need to take 6 months to produce antibodies then HIV should be less concern to him because his immune system really has got some serious illness that might be worst than HIV...The test used currently are not those that are used 20 years ago which needed large amount of antibodies for it to be reactive...The 6 months thing is already something of a past liao..Because the government here are either lack of knowledge or kiasu...People that required 6 months test are those IV users or cancer patients on chemotherapy...The US CDC only have 2 records of seroconversion cases after 3 months out of 40 million people infected worldwide...and these 2 cases are infected healthcare personals with needle stick injuries and co-infected with HEP C thus causing delayed seroconversion.
