Will GL be shift and consolidate into a building like most of the car city like AML where all WL have the shared hostel at high level and shops at middle level (2-3 levels) and eateries, grocery and etc at downsatirs. Not sure if I am wrong but by looking at how Eunos, Paya Lebar and Tai Seng are developing, it might stretch to GL and eventually will be shift to a consolidated location for better control.

The house filled with nice and cheerful ladies.
It was my kindergarden to learn my skills with all the experience and passionate sisters.

Also a super place to taste various raw abalones in different qualities, sizes and shapes. BTW, OKT Lek owns this landed property. Years ago someone offered to buy over this house at $1M but he obviously had rejected the offer. If government decides to include this part of GL in the masterplan for commercial redevelopment, it would definitely cost more than a $1m for sure. In the past there was speculation that GL would be relocated to Kranji as GL is near Marina Bay financial zone which is a good site for commercial purposes.

Agreed that relocation has been a very probable top of mind with the powers that be.

That said, the Red-light District will eventually return... Just a matter of time.

One of the best gauge on timing is to tune into the MTI, PMI and GDP index.. Which so far points to a upward trend for second half of this year.

Intersect that with the local and regional vaccination progress.

My guess is no later than 2nd half of 2022 to see red light district reopening then.

Ramp up time will be about 2-3 months.

Based on URA 2019 masterplan, Geylang area is still earmarked under “residential and commercial”. The plot ratio @ 2.8 is quite high and can be used to build condo and hotels. Therefore no one knows exactly the fate of Geylang in the long term except MND.
