Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
By end of 1st half it should have been Liv 4 - Sev 1 if.....if...Can and Headless Chicken could finish properly, especially HC's penalty kick
Moreno was unlucky to have his shot blocked Salah's speed is extra ordinary and the Sevilla defense were scared to their balls.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Moreno makes amends, Reds defence wayward – 5 talking points from Liverpool 2-2 Sevilla
Liverpool experienced a rollercoaster ride in their opening Champions League group game, with defence undoing attack in a 2-2 draw with Sevilla. Liverpool 2-2 Sevilla Champions League Group Stage, Anfield September 13, 2017 Goals: Firmino 21′, Salah 37; Ben Yedder 5′, Correa 72′ Firmino Hit and (Penalty) Miss It was almost a complete performance from the complete striker. A poor spot-kick marred an otherwise good display where Roberto Firmino was able to act the target man, the poacher, the defender from the front, but sadly not the penalty taker. Flanked by the lightning quick Mohamed Salah and the direct Sadio Mane, Firmino was the fulcrum of the team’s attacking play, winning headers, linking play and scoring. The team could have, and perhaps should have, scored more goals in this game, and in the end his missed penalty could have cost the side maximum points. Sevilla manager Eduardo Berizzo said after the game that the miss gave his team strength to recover, and they came into the game after that. But this shouldn’t take away from Firmino’s all-round performance which was impressive, as is regularly the case. Karius Composed, Calamitous or Just Unlucky? Other than the goals—which he could do little about due to the quality of the cross for the first and the failure of those in front of him to deal with the second—Karius had little to do in the way of saving shots. The Kop were determined to put pressure on him as he stood in front of them during the first half, impatiently making noise in his direction as he failed to release the ball quickly enough for their liking on one occasion. The low hum from the stands when the ball approaches a Liverpool goalkeeper would be enough to make even Manuel Neuer nervous, but Karius got on with his job. He collected or punched a couple of high balls, sprang counter-attacks with quick throws and generally dealt well with the footballing aspects of a goalkeeper’s game. The second goal conceded was effectively a penalty kick in open play as Joaquin Correa split the Liverpool centre-backs with one touch and finished past the sprawling German ‘keeper. He will get some stick for facing two shots and conceding two goals, but those in front of him need to make these attempts more difficult rather than giving strikers free shots at their team-mate between the posts. Matip on the Charge No one is sure where he was for the Sevilla goal, which isn’t necessarily a criticism. It’s just that while Dejan Lovren made his whereabouts perfectly clear with a failed clearance, Joel Matip, who you might have expected to cover that area, was somewhere else and can only be found after the fourth or fifth replay. Where the former Cameroon international could be easily found, however, was careering towards the opposition goal as defenders backed off him, under the impression that they only had to mark attacking players to stop Liverpool attacks. They were wrong. It recalled some of Kolo Toure’s adventures in a Liverpool shirt, which led to the Ivorian gaining something of a cult status at the club despite his short time on Merseyside. But Matip’s play summed up his side’s as a whole: great going forward, but often missing during important moments at the back. Moreno Makes Amends Having been made the scapegoat following Liverpool’s loss to this opposition in the Europa League final in 2016, former Sevilla player Alberto Moreno made sure that he was on the top of his game on Wednesday night. His pace is a weapon down the left-hand side, and he’ll often use his bursts of speed to cut inside as well provide an overlap for Mane. He drifted inside to play a one-two with Jordan Henderson to produce the side’s excellent equaliser, crossing to Firmino who’d got ahead of his man and the goalkeeper to tap in. At times in the second half he appeared to forget he was on a yellow card, which he picked up after careering into Gabriel Mercado at top speed. But as it turned out it was Liverpool’s other full-back, Joe Gomez—who had also put in a decent performance—who picked up a careless second yellow. Moreno looks to have recovered from the criticism he regularly receives, often unfairly, and is now looking like Liverpool’s first-choice left-back, despite new signing Andy Robertson impressing when he’s been given the chance. The Standing Spion Kop n a climate where safe standing and rail seating is on many an agenda, it was notable that the entire Kop stood for the entire game, as they probably will for all the Champions League matches and other big games this season. Liverpool are rightly at the forefront of any discussion surrounding this issue, but based on this game it seems that the majority of the club’s core support would prefer to stand if possible. They voted with their feet. Supporters group Spirit of Shankly recently ran a poll in which 88 percent of voters were in favour of introducing some sort of standing facility in the ground. For more information on this issue read the following reports by the Guardian‘s Liverpool reporter Andy Hunter here, and here.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Again we played bullshit football.
Defence is total rubbish with Lovren a big liability. We were lucky Sevilla midfield was not strong else it would have been worse. What is the point of bringing in Sturridge with 6 minutes on the clock? Klopp's tactics are unbelievable and he needs to change that sickening 433 formation. All the English teams won their CL matches except us.

What Ah Gong don't really understand is it is so easy to score against Liverpool . How on earth can the headless chicken miss a penalty ? From a possible picking up 3 points to dropping 2 points . Really Ah Gong don't understand how Liverpool play .

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Liverpool should have won 3-0 but they messed up,they were hopeless in defence and missed a penalty. Thats football and if they dont wise up then they wont win anything.
Lovren was shit, Moreno can't defend and unfortunately our midfield was not much better save for Gini. The goals we give away are the most basic simplest goals that the opposition can score! So far this season we have conceded 13 goals in 7 games, shockingly bad with no relief in sight. It's not like we have a quality defender to come back from injury. We missed out on VVD, then we should have gone for someone like Tah or Koulibaly. We also miss too many chances to win a title. This refusal to have a clinical number 9 will eventually come back to haunt us - i like Firmino but he should be the support to a lead attacker not the lead attacker himself. Looking at the Maribor v Spartak Moscow draw, think we should still get through our group, although we have made that eventuality harder work then we needed to - 'The Liverpool Way' Lastly, and this constantly drives me crazy in games, if you're going to sub on a striker of Daniel's pedigree, please please give him at least 15 mins to get into the game! I'm not sure what time he came on but strikers need some time to get a touch and try and figure out the quality of the defenders they're facing. Bringing a striker on with less than 10 mins in a game generally accomplishes nothing |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
I'm very disappointed and frustrated at the same time.
Where do I start ? Defence has to take a big step, I mean big big step, forward and improve. Liverpool clearly lacks a box-to-box midfield and a good example is Alonso. The goals are coming in but Klopp needs to change the system which allows Sturridge to start. The diamond seemed to work for Rodgers previously and Klopp won a game with that. |

You not alone . Its the same old thing . No improvement at all . The best part is same people making mistakes. In order to win a game Liverpool need to score more than 3 goals . At the rate they are going I doubt they will be able to proceed past the group stage. This Klopp still have not fixed the defeinsive woes. I am really tulan . Luckily I never bet . Liverpool could have easily got 3 points but now have to settle for 1 point. By the Gomez got a red . Will he ban for 3 matches ?

Clearly you have a negative opinion about an individual player who is by far your best player on the pitch with 4 goals and 3 assists in 7 matches. Find me a player in a Liverpool shirt who can better that and mind you, Firmino is a false 9. Were you whining this much when Mr. Cool, James Milner, missed a penalty last season and cost the team 2 points ? Get a grip mate. Pierre.

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
3 Key Battles That Could Decide Liverpool's Clash With Burnley on Saturday
Sean Dyche's Burnley beat Liverpool 2-0 at the start of last season and travel to Anfield on Saturday hoping they can pull off another shock victory against the Merseysiders. Despite the recent 5-0 hammering to Manchester City, Jurgen Klopp's side have produced some of the best attacking football in the league this season, and here's three battles that could go a long way to deciding how the game pans out... 3. Mohamed Salah vs Stephen Ward After a difficult initial spell in the Premier League with Chelsea, former Roma attacker Salah has enjoyed a fine start to his Liverpool career, netting twice and creating three chances in his first four games. His pace and trickery will cause all kinds of problems for Ireland international Stephen Ward, who Burnley will be hoping to use his experience of over 450 professional games to keep the Egyptian at bay. Salah's finishing is often seen as his weak point, a shot accuracy of 67% this season is not too menacing, but he is a key part of Liverpool's attack and if he is not kept under wraps, then Anfield should be seeing the Burnley net rustle a few times. 2. Philippe Coutinho vs Matthew Lowton Philippe Coutinho is expected to start on the left-hand side of Liverpool's three man attack after a move to Barcelona failed in the summer, and Reds' fans will be glad to see him back. The Brazilian scored 13 times in the league last year, created 65 chances and Squawka's performance data showed him clearly to be Liverpool's best player last season. Coutinho is capable of creating something out of nothing and so Burnley full-back Lowton will need to prevent the former Inter star from cutting in off the wing if the Clarets are to have any chance of winning on Saturday. 1. Dejan Lovren & Joel Matip vs Chris Wood Liverpool have conceded 13 times in all competitions so far this season and, although manager Jurgen Klopp seemingly denies it, the Reds' defensive frailties are preventing them from becoming a top side. Despite being only 26-years-old, Joel Matip has over 300 career appearances and so manager Klopp will be expecting the Cameroon international to make use of his experience on Saturday alongside Dejan Lovren, who has recently has something of a renaissance after a dodgy start to his Liverpool career. Kiwi international Chris Wood signed for Burnley for a reported £15m, but any queries about his price tag have been shaken off as the former Leeds striker has netted twice in his first two games. Wood is a powerful target man who will look to take full advantage of Liverpool's weakness to the aerial ball and unless Klopp's centre-backs can prevent the Burnley striker from holding up the ball for his teammates and proving a nuisance in the box, Sean Dyche's side could get their second win over the Anfield side in just over a year.
