Re: Liverpool Fc Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings

If Liverpool can re-discover their missing traditional way of play in the 60s to 80s huh, there 3 things u will see,

1)every 5-6 successful passes inside the 18yard box=1goal

2)3/4 of the playing time the opponents actually playing monkey in their own half.Look at Alan Hansen in the 80s

3)Once the leading striker score the 1st goal,Liverpool will never lose the match. But so far only Arsenal manage to win once in the 80s milk cup final, still remember is that cb charlie nicholas.

winning mentality is actually the differentiating factor between champs and chumps... hopefully, the players would start believing in themselves just like we would believe in them...

hiaz... classy defenders like alan hansen who could be so comfortable on the ball r hard to come by, not to mention that he has a killer pass as well... a certain rio tried to his own demise. did more harm than good, in my opinion.

the type of strikers most difficult to find r those fox-in-the-box type, the finisher, the one who could be in the right place at the right time... fowler benefitted a lot from rush, the ultimate tap-in striker. for another one to come by, rare. remember a certain evertonian who cost 10mil pounds to arsenal just bcos he showed promise of being one such striker... francis jeffers, too bad he didnt realise his potential.

that milk cup game... pool scored first but charlie nicholas scored 2 to win it for arsenal. but the image that got stuck to my head, rush outrunning an arsenal defender to chase down a stray pass...

from observations, milan has been rather reliant on kaka & seedorf in the middle of the park, & hoping for inzaghi to pounce on the chance. the backline is well aged with experience, but football is a game of fitness + speed + wits... experience may not necessarily make their defense invincible.

very sure, milan will try their level best not to let the victory slip thru their hands like in 2005. but its since been 2 yrs past, and 2 yrs can also mean its taken its toll for some players.

so i guess a tough fight with a 2-2 scoreline will keep us all at the edge of our seats.

I am really surprised as a reputable coach,Ancelotti would talk shits like that, what an idiot, who will let you play football the way you wish if we are able to stop you
Nice,he is scared.
LOL. typical italian, talk too much before the game starts. they remain true to their influence, philosophy & beliefs... hahaha. ya right! and that is how they got all messedd up & penalized for football corruption serie-A scandal. they can only be winners in their own "mafia" league... time for him to wake up, welcome to the champions league.

i guess they thought they secured the 3-0 win over l'pool in istanbul, thinking the mafias had wielded our reds, and complacency got the better of them, hence allowing us to level the game & go into PK shoot out to decide the 2005 winners.

For all Liverpool Fans, a recap of 2005 Final.

(highlights)

A repeat in 2007 on the way, just like Sevilla (red jersey in 2007) capturing the UEFA Cup twice in two seasons while Liverpool would be 2 times winner in 3 seasons

darren bent is a different kind of player. sometimes, his finishing is scary, sometimes the misses were scary, just like tevez. but one thing for sure, both can be counted to work their socks off, harassing defenders. however, they r not the answer to my desire for pool, a fox in the box... potential yes to both, would they make pool a better team, yes! both would qualify as masterstroke signings in years to come, but for an immediate big payout, i dont think so.

however, if i have to choose between one of them, bent, it is. on his day, he cannot be contained by anyone... tevez in my opinion, is more of a streaky player. problem is rafa needs his players to perform consistently to make his plans work, which is why i prefer bent. cheers, all.
whoever Benitez choose..hopefully he can guarantee Pool at least 20 goals in the league per season...

Agreed with u..Pool really need a 'fox in the box' type of center forward.. so far in the modern day football the oni player can execute this role well is the 'scum transformed galitico'.... we need this type of center forward who can anticipate and position well to finish of the chances created...

Both Bent and Tevez are quality player..but i still doubt Tevez..being a Latin American able to cope well in the fast paced premeirship..though I understand most of the rest can argue that he had proven his worth in WH...by scoring week in/out towards the end of the season...but I hv a weird funny feeling that he is the kind of player who will blow hot/cold...and consistency is something that he cannot gaurantee....

Obviously, you've not yet woken up to realise that those days are long gone ... which also means the profiles of the other teams have changed so very much that those days will not return.

All that was possible only becoz the opponents' defence were still working with formulae from the 50s ... what I'm trying to say is that teams these days know how to defend as a team to avoid defeat, what differentiate teams are their respective ability to score enough goals to win matches.

What about Redknapp's untouchable ability to keep passing without attaining progression in distance?? Come on, you wanna play keep ball, you need to score first ... else the best you can get is still a draw.

That's really not the most important characteristics ... going by our style of absorbing the pressures before hitting back via counter-attacks, it's more important to be able to crawl back after falling behind. That is what really marks any team out as champions ... simply becoz it makes the team believe they will never lose.

That's a major challenge for us, it's a problem for any counter-attacking side. Cos you need to change your game when you go behind. I'm not sure that Rafa has got a plan for this, especially when we fall behind away.

We have the belief that when we score first we will always win, but we don't have the know-how yet to step up our game when we fall behind in away games.
