The transfer window is in full swing and while Brendan Rodgers accepts a quiet window, here are some names linked with Liverpool.

1) Divock Origi - Liverpool are willing to splash a further £4.7 million to cut the forward's loan spell short. The Belgium starlet whom the club signed for £10 million in the summer was loaned back to Ligue 1 club Lille.

2) Christian Benteke - Brendan Rodgers is keen to launching a £15 million bid for the powerful striker who is valued at £25 million by Aston Villa.

3) Saido Berahino - The England sensation is refusing to sign a new deal at the Hawthorns as he looks to force a £20 million move to Liverpool.

4) Gonzalo Higuain - Liverpool are keeping close taps on the Argentine's situation as he recently lost his place in Rafael Benitez's Napoli. The forward has a £30m release clause in his current contract.

5) Miralem Pjanic - The Roma playmaker is on the Reds radar and will cost the club £23 million as Rodgers is understood to be an admirer of the Bosnian star's passing ability.

6) Fabian Delph - A £7.5 million bid should be enough to allow the England midfielder to join Liverpool in January.

7) Sergio Romero - Sampdoria shot stopper is in the wanted list by Liverpool as Brad Jones' injury and Simon Mignolet's poor form piled a goalkeeper crisis on Brendan Rodgers.

Don't have high hopes for the transfers. They should be getting a goalkeeper . 2 strikers and a right winger.

So far Suso is leaving for AC Milan on a 4 year deal. Don't know Liverpool get him in the first place.

Some updates and opinions

1. The Origi situation doesn't seem to have neared any conclusion, Liverpool is hesitant to pay extra to bring a player back when he only has 5 months of loan tenure left with Lille.

2. The interest in Benteke has died off sometime back, we have since bough a whole load of strikers, so this move is very unlikely.

3. In my opinion, Saido Berahino is rather a big gamble, I don't see any sense in paying £20m or whatever is reported on a striker who had half a good season under his belt, plus we are way over the FFP allowance which balancing the books is more of a priority or we risk losing the UCL profit.

4. A move for Delph seems likelier in the summer when his contract runs out with Villa.

5. Sergio Romero is being watched closely by Fiorentina, depending on the contract negotiations with Neto. Liverpool are keeping an eye on him alongside a few othe EPL clubs.

No updates on the Higuain and Pjanic situations but I think it's highly unlikely given that we are close to violating FFP regulations

IMHO, a January move to Liverpool may not seem likely for Arbeloa, yes he has bags of experience and he has proven that he has the qualities needed for decent defensive cover. However, with Johnson (whose contract runs till the summer) and Manquillo already holding the places for the right back position, not forgetting too that we still have Flana (injury) and Wisdom (on loan at WBA). The priorities for the club may not be set on hunting for another right back, I still reckon a keeper is what they need, and balancing the books to prevent FFP violations.
