Can you give me a rough estimate of the charges for a complete test? Need to bring enough money there. Dun wanna use my card for obvious reasons.

My brother is a volunteer with them and he confirmed no trace.

AFA is in no way linked to the gahment. They just wanted to help people with doubt about HIV/AIDS as well as people living with it.

No need bring too much lar, I think ard 100+ can get everything screened.

yeap... that was what i thought too.. i really dont understand why people are so skeptical about going to afa and thinks that they track the phone and records etc...Haiz...

bro wish you good luck , a close friend of mine just confirm he got HIV, he is only 28 this year.

hey bros..have been reading up on HIV these days...it always say if the other party performs oral sex on you..the risk of u getting infected is low...hw bout if i perform on her lei?wat is the risk?isit higher than when she performs on me?

Oral sex HIV warning

The risk of contracting HIV from oral sex may be greater than previously thought.

It has long been known that the virus can be transmitted through oral sex - but the risk was thought to be minimal.

However, research in the UK and US among gay men now suggests that oral sex may be responsible for up to 8% of HIV infections.

Instead of a handful of cases a year in the UK of HIV being transmitted through oral sex, we are seeing 30 to 50

Other sexually transmitted diseases, such as syphilis and gonorrhoea are also spread from person to person by oral sex.

Public health experts fear that the public is unaware of the dangers associated with the practice because it remains largely a taboo subject.

In addition, anecdotal evidence from other countries like the US suggests that people tend to reject messages advising them always to use condoms for oral sex.

In fact, such messages can, in theory at least, put people off condom use altogether.

Greater awareness

A report by the Public Health Laboratory Service (PHLS) report concludes it is important for people to be more aware of the dangers and decide for themselves the level of risk they consider acceptable.

Dr Barry Evans, an PHLS expert on sexual diseases, said: "The picture that is emerging is that the risk is greater than previously thought.

"Instead of a handful of cases a year in the UK of HIV being transmitted through oral sex, we are seeing 30 to 50."

Dr Evans stressed that HIV is mostly spread through anal and vaginal sex.

Recent studies confirm that unprotected anal sex is clearly the highest risk activity, accounting for over 90% of transmission in gay men in the UK.

Just went to Han's clinic yesterday.

Dr Han told me that the chances of getting HIV is very low but other stds very high. Anyway, he gave me a jab just in case (or rather, he said to protect me first). And also gave me antibiotics for 5 days.

Waiting for my blood test results which should be out sometime this week.

However, I'll probably need to retest again 3 months later.

Meanwhile, I'll be going for AFA testing in another 2 weeks and 6 weeks time just to give myself the peace of mind I desperately need at the moment.

Can you tell us more of your friend's situation?

read sme Q & A and on DSC webby...they kp saying tat chances of getting HIV thru oral sex is low...cos it says the saliva can inhibit the HIV virus...though there is stil a slight risk la...hmm...

Bro, if i remember correctly, some time ago MOH ever mentioned about bringing in HIV test kits for individual testing, How true is this ?
Is there such instant test kit available in the market ? both local or oversea ?
