Cycling woman killed by cement mixer: She just celebrated her birthday

Three women were cycling across a pedestrian crossing in Yishun when tragedy struck.

A cement mixer turned into their path and collided with the woman in the middle.

It then ran over the same woman, Madam Lin Shui Yu, 59, killing her on the spot.

Madam Lin was on her way home with her two friends when the accident happened at the T-junction of Yishun Avenue 9 and Yishun Central, her family members told the media.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force was alerted to the accident at 11.25am, and pronounced her dead at the scene.

Madam Lin's family members who were at the scene were distraught. They said she was taking care of her grandchildren and had celebrated her birthday last weekend with her grandson.

A female relative knelt at the spot where Madam Lin was hit and wailed: "Why did you have to go?"

Commuters were in for an eyeful this morning (May 18) on the Circle Line.

Stomper IZ sent Stomp a video his friend had shared with him of a man dressed in a colourful crop top, black thongs and knee-high gladiator sandals.

According to IZ, his friend spotted the guy on a train travelling on the Circle Line from Bishan to one-north.

Fellow commuters had mixed reactions: Some felt embarrassed, others couldn't stop staring.

Said the Stomper: "This is unbelievable!"

Commuters were in for an eyeful this morning (May 18) on the Circle Line.

Stomper IZ sent Stomp a video his friend had shared with him of a man dressed in a colourful crop top, black thongs and knee-high gladiator sandals.

According to IZ, his friend spotted the guy on a train travelling on the Circle Line from Bishan to one-north.

Another case of boy jumped! Sure more will be posted because of Benjamin case.

Boy, 11, falls from 17th floor of Fernvale Link block before he was supposed to bring home exam paper

An 11-year-old male student was found dead in his school uniform at the foot of Block 470 in Fernvale Link yesterday morning (May 18) at around 6.50am after falling from the 17th storey of the HDB block.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, the boy was supposed to have gone to school to collect exam papers for his parents to sign.

When reporters arrived at the scene, they saw the boy's mother sitting on the ground crying. Residents who live in the area also said that the student's father was kneeling by his son's corpse apologising profusely.

A 19-year-old resident living on the third storey of the HDB block said he heard a loud thud in the morning followed by loud cries of the student's mother.

Another resident also told reporters that the family was quarelling before the incident took place and that the boy fell after his father went down the block to get his car.

The boy's mother has said that her son was very lively in the morning before he fell.

Police have classified the case as unnatural death.

Heard the same at Cisco where every month one case of suicide using the firearm to the head. Just that these not posted.

The family of an elderly man who died after his mobility scooter tipped as he was backing out of a lift are bewildered by their loss and unsure of what to do next to find answers to what happened.

Mr Lim Hang Chiang, 77, died on Monday morning from a brain haemorrhage, about 16 hours after the incident at Block 247, Pasir Ris Street 21. The floor of the lift was about 15cm higher than that of the lobby when the lift doors opened.

He did not realise there was such a big gap as he was backing his mobility device out of the lift on Sunday morning, on his way to have breakfast with his older son.

His younger son, Mr Lim Keng Swee, 45, told The Straits Times: "I don't know how to feel right now. Even if there is some form of compensation, I don't know if that is ever enough."

Yesterday, MPs from the Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC paid their respects to Mr Lim at his wake in Pasir Ris.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean and MP Sun Xueling, who went at about 4.30pm, had a 30-minute private conversation with the bereaved family.

Both DPM Teo and Ms Sun declined to comment on the incident.

Benjamin case was because his parents disputed the Police case of "molest" and that's why coroner inquiry.

This Fernvale case will just be in the news and nothing else will happened.
