Just IMO.

It actually feels more like a Garrison town than a Cowboy town in that there is a proper system of doing things and more importantly is the people there follow the system..... unlike the gung-ho behaviour often found in Cowboy towns.
Although the economy is struggling and the people are mostly poor in comparison to other parts of the country.... crime is very low and there is a spirit of gotong royong amongst the local people. For those who grew up in kampungs you will fit in easily into their culture here and feel very at home.

Not sure, I'm actually trying to figure out where my next mongering "home" destination should be after the fall of Chang Ping.

Yes, this place seems OK - but I'm wondering if its gonna be worth it for me to have to travel such great distances to get to it. I guess I just need to at least go there once - alongside other destinations of course - to try it out for myself.

Curious - why do you ask? Are you able to offer guiding services? Or is it that you just like the place yourself and want others to party with?

You will be disappointed as the place is nothing like a cowboy town.

Not easy to access from China side.

From Xishuangbanna domestic airport, it take about 2 hours to reach Myanmar-China border. And the border gate is only open to chinese nationality. If you have relationship with the casino, they will send their driver to pick you up from china side.

I didn't explore the entertainment market there as we are there purely to explore the business opportunity but i understood from the driver that the short time price for the gal is RMB300. (not sure whether this information is correct)

It is a small place control and managed by the Myanmar troop which is independent from the central Myanmar government.

If you think about going there just for entertainment... then i think may not worth the trip to travel all the way there....

Hi folks, you may wish to know that the Thai Army has sealed off the border crossing to this town since a couple of weeks ago. Reason was believed to be because the Army had received intel that the anti-coup factions may be bringing in arms from the border crossings.

Thailand does not have a common boarder with China? May I know what does the Royal Thai Army sealing off any boarder crossing has anything to do with this town in China, Guangxi? As far as I know, getting access into China from Indo-China is ONLY from Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.

Spot on. I am referring to the $10 a bonk town in Shan mountains which was easier to access from the Thai/Burma border.
