SINGAPORE - Thirty people were arrested in a series of operations against unlicensed massage establishments and public entertainment outlets, the Singapore Police Force said on Friday (July 6).

The operations, which were conducted on Thursday and Friday, saw 27 women and three men arrested for working without valid work permits. The arrested workers are aged between 18 and 32, and were working at two public entertainment outlets in Serangoon Road and South Bridge Road.

Operations against unlicensed massage establishments in Chinatown and Tras Street found one such business to have flouted licensing conditions.

The police said action will be taken against the operators for flouting the rules and regulations under the Public Entertainment Act and Massage Establishment Act.

"The police take a serious view of anyone found breaking the law and will continue to take tough enforcement stance against such activities," the statement added.

Those who are aged below 20 shall be pardoned. They should be allowed continue working even without licenses.
