In a bid to shore up his declining reputation, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong spent S$250,000 of his S$2.2 million yearly salary to create an education award named after himself. The “Lee Hsien Loong Interactive Digital Media (IDM) Smart Nation Award” is created to encourage polytechnic students to “be creative”, and five projects will be chosen every year with each winner getting a S$1,000 award, from the S$250,000 endowment fund.

The Singapore dictator has been under increasing severe criticisms for his failure to address public transport breakdowns, corruption within his own party (the Bukit Batok by-election incident), oppression of free speech by jailing his critics, unaffordable housing prices, and pushing the blame of a worsening Singapore economy to “external factors”. PM Lee Hsien Loong was also recently called a “dishonourable man” who is trying to establish a dynasty by immortalizing his father and himself by his own sister, who is also censored by her dictator brother. The dictator has so far jailed a 16 year old for over 50 days, a 3-months pregnant woman for 10 months and forced an unemployed man to pay S$150,000 in defamation damages. All three victims committed “digital crimes” through criticism of Lee Hsien Loong.

PM Lee Hsien Loong is currently busy campaigning for his PAP candidate Murali Pillai in Bukit Batok SMC as the latter is inexperienced. Just earlier last week, the Prime Minister defamed the Opposition candidate, Dr Chee Soon Juan, by calling him “crazy” and “unrepentant”. However, unlike the previous election, the politician can no longer invoke sympathy votes by using his father’s death. PM Lee is now very worried that the vocal Opposition leader gets voted in Parliament in the upcoming by-election.
