Cold Sore or?

Bro,

I have a ulcer-blisters thing at my genital area and I am not sure is it STD related. I suspected its cold sores and i went to a clinic at East Side. The doctor told me its some skin infection and gave me some cream.

I have had a sexual encounter last weekend. It was protected.

Could the doctor misdiagnosed? Should I go for a STD test?

"Cold Sores" is Herpes. Google "genital herpes" and do an image search and compare what you see with what you have.

In order to confirm a herpes infection accurately, a viral culture from the discharge of the sores needs to be done so if the sores are still there, see a doctor asap.

Small technical detail: viral cultures are almost never done these days. They are cumbersome and have very low sensitivities.

Most doctors now use a PCR test for HSV. Just a simple swab and it can determine not only if there is a HSV infection, it can also determine which type
