The new boys Meireles used to be a left back and Konchesky was a left winger before finding his calling as a left back. Perhaps it was a blessing in disguise that RH was unable to sign any forward. With N'gog injured, our hotshot youngster Pacheco may get his chance to show everyone what he is capable of. My gut feeling is he has what it takes to succeed in the BPL and may be our next Robbie Fowler. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
Bros,
Tranfer window has slammed shut! After all the selling and acquiring as well as some going out on loan, it appears that our team currently looks like this: GK Reina Jones DF Johnson Konchesky Carragher Agger Skrtel Kyrgiakos Aurelio Darby Wilson Kelly MF Gerrard Cole Meireles Poulsen Rodriguez Jovanovic Leiva Spearing Shelvey CF Torres Kuyt Babel Ngog Pacheco Given the circumstances, especially on account that we have not managed to acquire another proven goal-scorer before the shutting of the transfer window this time around, my suggestion is to play a 4-2-3-1 formation as follows: -- Reina Johnson Carragher Agger Konchesky Gerrard Poulsen Kuyt Meireles Cole Torres Subs: Jones/Skrtel/Aurelio/Rodriguez/Jovanovic/Babel/Ngog. What do other bros think? Please comment. |

Re: Liverpool Fc @ Anfield - Reds Supporters Gatherings
My preferred 1st eleven if I am the Liverpool manager looks like this :-
GK - Reina RB - Johnson CB - Carragher CB - Agger LB - Konchesky RAM - Kuyt CDM - Poulsen CAM - Gerrard LAM - Jovanovic FC - Joe Cole ST - Torres Yes I would play a diamond shaped 4-4-2 formation. Bros dun flame me if you dun like my lineup. I only have a level 3 coaching certificate lah so still got a lot to learn. At the moment can only coach primary school soccer team. But I always make sure my charges drink plenty of milk. |

Liverpool: Daniel Agger, Fabio Aurelio, Ryan Babel, Milan Jovanovic, Dirk Kuyt, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Lucas Leiva, Raul Meireles, Christian Poulsen, Pepe Reina, Maxi Rodriguez, Martin Skrtel, Fernando Torres, Jamie Carragher, Joe Cole, Stephen Darby, Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson, Brad Jones, Paul Konchesky, Jay Spearing . (Liverpool can also use young players including: Peter Gulacsi, Martin Kelly, Daniel Wilson, Jonjo Shelvey, Daniel Pacheco, Nathan Eccleston and David Ngog.)
While i have seen other clubs name the full 25, we have only name 21 senior players. In brackets are youth players. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/feature...ngland&cc=4716 |

Sad thing is, we don't have regualr first XI space for Ngog who seems to be getting into his groove and deserves a chance of an extended run to blossom. |

Also, I read today in one of the articles profiling Meireles that whilst he is predominately deployed as a defensive midfielder, he likes to bomb forward as well and has numerous assists, not to mention goals to his name in his previous club as well as for his country. Therefore, if and when he joins the attack, we can still depend on Poulsen to give the defensive cover just in case the ball is lost upfield and our opponents try to launch a counter-attack. |

I do actually rate Jovanovic quite highly. The only problem is that he tends to cut inside every so often and not stay wide left, thereby narrowing the play rather than spreading it. In the game against WBA, when he switched inside from the left (which was very often), Torress had to go wide left to drag the defenders with him and open up the space. I'd rather see Torres in and around the opponent's penalty box rather than on the wing as he is far more dangerous when he has the opponent's goal in his sights. Nonetheless, it has been pointed out to me that Meireles is actually a defensive midfielder and that being the case, I have an alternative to my 4-2-3-1 formation, which is to go 4-4-1-1 as follows: -- Reina Johnson Carragher Agger Konchesky Kuyt Gerrard Meireles Jovanovic Cole Torres Subs: Jones/Skrtel/Aurelio/Poulsen/Rodriguez/Babel/Ngog. On another note, whether it be a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1, there is no place for Leiva, even on the bench, unless the midfielders which I have mentioned are unavaliable by getting injured or suspended! |

RH should punish Leiva by banishing him to the reserves until the next transfer window. |
