well, I don't think you have to accept it. As in any business, there's always a negotiation process, both sides will try to push forward their justification for their needs. Neither side has to accept the terms presented by the other side without any sort of push back.
In the end, a give and take spirit will allow a successful closure to the deal. Sometimes, the negotiated terms need not necessary be monetary terms, it could be better service conditions, etc.. Both sides should be allowed to have their say and come to mutually agreed terms.
