Re: Hatyai,Thailand For Sawadee Newbies

Hi to all samster,

I'm going up next month 31/8 & stays for 2 nights. Book New Season thru Asiatravel web site at total S$112, much cheaper then Agoda (S$150). Anyone can advise how much i have to pay for the taxi from airport to hotel??? Any good place for shopping (with OC) & food?? Thanks in advance.

Your hotel to Lee Garden area is not that far within 2 street crossing and there is Central, Lee Garden and Odeon Shopping within a close range of 50 meters radius.

Taxi from the airport to Hatyai town, I am sorry couldn't help you as it have been donkeys years since I took one to town.

From Wikepedia travel
Hat Yai International Airport [1] (HDY)
Taxi rides to Hat Yai city can be found at the airport entrance for which the drivers will ask around 250 baht, you also can use the airport limo service which costs 300 baht. A minivan service into the city costs 150 baht. A blue colored songthaew runs into town for 20 baht and can be found at the far end of the parking lot. From Phet Kasem road, there is a Highway No. 4135 (Sanambin Panij road) linking to the airport.

On New Seasons, isn't webbie expensive? Used to be my choice, recall (also from posting here) I only paid about bht850. Way cheaper than webbie bookings.

You are a sessoned cheongster; you are 110% correct getting for the local tour agency is cheaper than the web booking. But then the danger is that when you arrive there they will tell you," No more room!" Unless you know them and call them to reserve first.

Or shack up with WLs in their "ofit" (office = their humble dormitory upstairs above ops centre)

I was in Hatyai last month, and I took a cab from airport to Novotel. It costs me THB 300. Still got the receipt with me.

.....Another better place is ...on the 10th Floor of the hotel building where they hang all the hotel bedsheets to dry after washing ....therefore, there are plentyful of bedsheets to lie on and gaze the wonderful stars above at night and they are really smiling at you, LOS.

You may want to consider calling some hotel directly, there is a promotion from Florida Hotel at 550 bahts per night stay, or even Hatyai Gardens Homes Hotel (standard rooms 480 bahts, deluxe room 645 bahts) I stay at the Florida previous week, and at the deluxe rooms of Garden Homes..... they are comfortable and very well maintained, especially Garden Homes

Well for shopping, I always kenna hamtham for under declaring distances...... from Florida, I could walk to Lee Garden area, 0.9 km away..... Gardens Homes slightly nearer. There is always the tuk tuk options.....

I think I posted Florida Hotel contacts here, flip back a couple of postings. As to Garden Homes, if you really want, PM me, I will SAL, Search and Locate the contact for you....

Word of caution, Garden Homes is just the corner stones of the happening SKY..... had a gal from there last Sat... hee hee....

Last but not least, there is no such thing as no more rooms in Hatyai!!!! My shifu will check out VL Hotel...... heard from him, very nice view, very convenient location... I will stay there in my next trip...
