Re: Barcelona - NouCamp Faithful
Real Madrid 2 - 1 Barcelona : Real Madrid wins Supercopa
2nd Leg (4-4 on agg. Real Madrid wins on away goals.) Real Madrid secured their first Spanish Supercopa since 2008 on away goals after a narrow victory over arch rivals Barcelona in tonight's second leg at the Bernabeu. The hosts had failed to win in their last seven home meetings with Barca but went about ending that record early on with goals in the first 20 minutes from Gonzalo Higuain and Cristiano Ronaldo. The visitors were then reduced to 10 men as Adriano was shown a straight red card for denying Ronaldo a clear goalscoring opportunity, but they regained their composure and were brought back into the game by a stunning free-kick from Lionel Messi just before half-time. Chances continued to come at both ends after the break but Real failed to make their man advantage count and were nearly made to pay as Messi shot just inches wide deep into stoppage time. Re: Barcelona - NouCamp Faithful
Barcelona 1 - 0 Valencia : Barca maintained 100% La Liga record
Barcelona retained the only 100 per cent record in Spain's Primera Division with a fine strike by Adriano sinking struggling Valencia 1-0. Barca, beaten by rivals Real Madrid in the Supercopa, could have beaten Manuel Pellegrino's side by more goals had Cesc Fabregas not failed to take two good chances. Tito Vilanova almost saw his side pay for those missed chances as Roberto Soldado and Victor Ruiz both went close, the latter also having a goal disallowed for offside. Barcelona had the first chance but when Pedro cut in from the right after eight minutes his left-footed shot was straight at Diego Alves. But the home side were nearly caught out a couple of minutes later when Soldado curled his shot just wide after bringing down a lofted through ball. Gerard Pique was booked after his arm caught Jonas on the back of the head as they both challenged for a high ball. An unmarked Lionel Messi got an effort on target when Dani Alves swung the ball in from the right but Diego Alves was able to push the ball away. Barcelona took the lead 22 minutes in when Adriano cut in from the left, following a short corner which was played to Lionel Messi, and fired a right foot shot across goal and into the top right corner. Getafe 1 - 4 Barcelona : Barcelona cruise to victory
Lionel Messi climbed off the bench to score twice while his fellow replacement David Villa was again on the mark as Barcelona continued their 100% start to the new Primera Division season with a 4-1 win at Getafe. Adriano capitalised on good work by Cesc Fabregas to notch a 32nd-minute opener before the visitors added three more goals in the final 16 minutes to seal their fourth win in four league outings. Messi doubled the lead from the penalty spot before the Argentina ace made it 3-0 four minutes later. Getafe pulled a goal back through Pablo Sarabia's deflected strike but Villa had the final word with a brilliant piece of finishing in stoppage time to complete the scoring. Barcelona 3 - 2 Spartak Moscow : Barca made to work by Spartak
Barcelona had to come from behind to get their Champions League campaign off to a winning start as two goals from Lionel Messi helped them beat Spartak Moscow 3-2 at the Camp Nou. Cristian Tello had fired the hosts into the lead after just 13 minutes but Spartak refused to be overawed by their surroundings and were level 16 minutes before half-time when Dani Alves turned Emmanuel Emenike's cross into his own net. The home fans were stunned on the hour mark when a excellent Spartak counter-attack teed up Romulo to put the visitors in front, but Messi applied the finishing touch to two deadly crosses by Tello and Alexis Sanchez in the final 20 minutes to secure a precious three points. Re: Barcelona - NouCamp Faithful
Barcelona 2 - 0 Granada : Barca left it late
A stunning 87th-minute goal from substitute Xavi set Barcelona on their way to a hard-fought 2-0 Primera Division victory over Granada at the Nou Camp. The Catalan giants had looked to be on the verge of dropping their first points under new coach Tito Vilanova as the visitors defended resolutely - and themselves looked dangerous on the counter-attack. But Xavi, a 53rd-minute replacement for Thiago Alcantara, finally broke the deadlock with a sublime goal three minutes from time, latching onto the ball on the edge of the box and bending a brilliant shot with the outside of his right foot into the top-left corner via the bar. It was tough on Granada, whose goalkeeper Tono had been in inspired form throughout, and their dismay was complete in stoppage time when Borja Gomez put through his own net from Lionel Messi's cross. Sevilla 2 - 3 Barcelona : Barca with last gasp winner
Barcelona maintained their 100 per cent start to the new Primera Division campaign with a thrilling come-from-behind victory at 10-man Sevilla. Tito Vilanova's men appeared to be heading for defeat when Piotr Trochowski and Alvaro Negredo fired Sevilla into a deserved 2-0 lead, but Cesc Fabregas' brace pulled Barca level before substitute David Villa secured the win in stoppage time. Re: Barcelona - NouCamp Faithful
Benfica 0 - 2 Barcelona : Puyol's injury mars Barca win
Barcelona kept their perfect start to the season going with a 2-0 win at Benfica in the UEFA Champions League Group G match thanks to goals either side of half-time by Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas. Sanchez was on hand to turn in Lionel Messi's cross after just six minutes and despite a few scares from an attack-minded Benfica they sealed the three points 10 minutes into the second period when Messi again set up Fabregas to rifle in at Artur Moraes' near post. However, the Catalans' night was soured towards the end when captain Carles Puyol carried off on a stretcher with what appeared to be a broken arm after he landed awkwardly when attacking a corner before Sergio Busquets was shown a straight red card two minutes from time. Re: Barcelona - NouCamp Faithful
Barcelona 2 - 2 Real Madrid : Ronaldo, Messi share spoils in draw
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo matched each other blow for blow at the Nou Camp, bagging two goals apiece as Barcelona and Real Madrid battled out an entertaining draw in the first Clasico of the Primera Division season. Tito Vilanova's Barca headed into the game eight points clear of their arch rivals and boasting a 100 per cent record from their first six matches, but found themselves trailing midway through the first half when Ronaldo netted for the sixth straight Clasico. But Messi equalised with a scrappy goal soon after and then put the hosts ahead with a stunning free-kick on the hour, only for Ronaldo to capitalise on sloppy defending midway through the second half to ensure honours ended even. Re: Barcelona - NouCamp Faithful
Deportivo La Coruña 4 - 5 Barcelona : Barcelona edge nine-goal thriller
A Lionel Messi hat-trick only told half of the story as Barcelona held off a plucky Deportivo La Coruna in a captivating Primera Division match at Riazor. It looked to be a one-sided affair when the league leaders raced into a three-goal lead through Jordi Alba, Cristian Tello and Messi after just 18 minutes. However, Depor replied with a Luis Pizzi penalty and an Alex Bergantinos goal before Messi struck again to put Barca back in the driving seat. Pizzi's second of the match then set the nerves jangling once more and the dismissal of Javier Mascherano gave the visitors further food for thought until Messi made it 5-3 with his treble. The excitement did not stop there though, and an own goal from Alba brought Depor back within touching distance of their opponents with 11 minutes remaining. However, despite their best attempts to grab a deserved equaliser, their luck ran out as Barca held on for the points. (excerpt from ESPN Soccernet)

Re: Barcelona - NouCamp Faithful
Barcelona 2 - 1 Celtic : Alba breaks Bhoys' hearts
An injury-time goal from Jordi Alba stunned Celtic and gave Barcelona a dramatic victory in their pulsating Champions League Group G clash at the Camp Nou. Celtic had led at the famous stadium when, in the 18th minute, Georgios Samaras' header from a Charlie Mulgrew free-kick went in off the back of Barcelona's makeshift centre-back Javier Mascherano. And it looked for a while like the Greek striker, who had scored the winner against Spartak Moscow earlier in the month to clinch Celtic' first away victory in the competition, might have just have played his part in an even more momentous goal. However, a minute before the break Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta levelled, and with the four minutes of injury time almost played at the end of an exhausting evening, defender Alba sneaked in at the back post to slide in an Adriano cross. Re: Barcelona - NouCamp Faithful
Rayo Vallecano 0 - 5 Barcelona : Messi stars for five-goal Barca
Lionel Messi was once again Barcelona's inspiration as they underlined their Primera Division title credentials with a thumping 5-0 win over Rayo Vallecano. Messi scored twice to take his tally for the calendar year to a hardly believable 73 as Barca, who struggled to see off Celtic in the Champions League in midweek, ran riot at the Campo de Futbol de Vallecas. It was not as comfortable for the visitors as the comprehensive scoreline suggested, however, and it was Rayo who looked more likely to score before David Villa broke the deadlock in the 20th minute. Messi grabbed the second just after the interval and three goals in the final 12 minutes - from Xavi, Cesc Fabregas and Messi again - flattered Tito Vilanova's men, who have picked up 25 points from an available 27 so far this season. Barcelona 3 - 1 Celta Vigo : Barca cruise to victory
Lionel Messi could not get a goal to mark the birth of his first son but Barcelona took the points in a straightforward victory over Celta Vigo. Three goals in the space of five minutes sparked the first half into life after the 20-minute mark as Adriano and David Villa scored either side of Mario Bermejo's strike. Jordi Alba wrapped up the win just after the hour mark. (excerpt from ESPN Soccernet)

Re: Barcelona - NouCamp Faithful
Celtic 2 - 1 Barcelona : Hoops stun Barca for famous win
Parkhead witnessed one of its greatest nights as goals from Victor Wanyama and substitute Tony Watt gave Celtic a momentous Champions League victory over Barcelona. It was a Group G clash that the Hoops were not supposed to win but the east end of Glasgow exploded in the 21st minute when midfielder Wanyama headed in from a Charlie Mulgrew corner. It was backs-to-the-wall stuff for most of the game for the home side as the star-studded visitors hit the woodwork twice and goalkeeper Fraser Forster pulled off a number of vital saves. But in the 83rd minute 18-year-old Watt, on for Mikael Lustig to make his debut in the competition, raced away to score the second, leaving Lionel Messi's late strike a consolation. Mallorca 2 - 4 Barcelona : Messi double downs Mallorca
Two goals by Lionel Messi inspired leaders Barcelona to victory at Mallorca after the hosts had threatened to derail their visitors' bid for a 10th win in this season's Primera Division. Barcelona were cruising at 3-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Xavi, Messi and Cristian Tello. However, Mallorca scored twice in four second-half minutes through Michael Pereira and a Victor Casadesus penalty but Messi struck to bring the hosts' comeback to a halt.
