Gunner Supporter,
I think Arsenal really played well against liverpool that day.Cesc Fabregas is in control for their mid field and u look at the way how arsenal pass their ball, swift one touch and is nicely done. A really great play by them. Hope they can maintain this kind of play against Man U. Gunner all the way......

Champions League - European Power Rankings
There is plenty of movement in our list of Europe's top clubs after a frenetic midweek of action across the continent, but Arsenal still lead the way. We take into account both domestic and Champions League performance, plus the relative difficulty of each team's league. The cream is starting to rise, with the top seven all hailing from Europe's three leading leagues - England, Spain and Italy. 1 (1) Arsenal - 28.00 2 (3) Manchester United - 26.82 3 (5) Real Madrid - 24.17 4 (2) Barcelona - 22.78 5 (10) Internazionale - 22.00 6 (13) Chelsea - 21.21 7 (14) Roma - 20.50 8 (6) Porto - 20.33 9 (7) Shakhtar Donetsk - 18.64 10 (8) Rangers - 18.14 11 (4) Valencia - 18.00 12 (16) Milan - 17.75 13 (-) Benfica - 17.00 14 (9) Liverpool - 17.00 15 (12) Fenerbahce - 16.70 16 (19) Sevilla - 16.67 17 (-) Werder Bremen - 16.64 18 (18) Rosenborg - 15.99 19 (-) Besiktas - 15.59 20 (11) Marseille - 15.00

Arsenal offer Beckham base to train during US close season
Hertfordshire...hm... I miss this place, I been stay there for 2 years... hur hur hur! England midfielder David Beckham has been offered the chance to train with Premier League side Arsenal during the Major League Soccer close season, The Times newspaper reported on Wednesday. Beckham will line out with England in Friday's international friendly against Austria in Vienna, and next Wednesday's crucial Euro 2008 qualifier against Croatia. The 32-year-old Beckham's fate, like that of England coach Steve McClaren depends heavily on the result between Russia and Israel in the Euro 2008 qualifying tie in Tel Aviv on Saturday night. Victory for Russia will probably end McClaren's tenure and with it Beckham's international career. If Russia fail to win and England beat Croatia at Wembley next week, Beckham would expect to be involved at Euro 2008 and he has received offers from Watford, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal - all based near his Hertfordshire home - to train during the Major League Soccer close season, which lasts until February. Los Angeles Galaxy's Beckham, who has 97 caps, is just three games short of becoming just the fifth Englishman to reach a century.

Cesc happy with 'special' Gunners
Cesc Fabregas says playing for Arsenal is "very special" - and insists there is no chance of him leaving Emirates Stadium to return to Spain. The 20-year-old midfielder has been strongly linked with both Real Madrid and Barcelona in the past but he maintains that he is proud to be an Arsenal player. Fabregas enjoys being part of a close-knit squad and is only interested in fulfilling his potential, rather than any financial rewards. He said: "I'm not even thinking about returning to Spain. I don't even listen to the offers that come in for me because I don't need anything that I haven't already got at Arsenal. "And it's nothing to do with money. If it was I would have gone to Real Madrid last summer. "I am not moved by money, I am moved by football. "I am playing and I am happy. Being a Gunner is very special, something that I am proud of. This is a small club on the inside, like a family, but it's huge on the outside." Fabregas has been in sparkling form this season but he feels the only major difference is more composure in his finishing. "I think I'm playing the same as ever but the ball is going in for me which makes it look like I am playing better," he explained. "I was getting in front of goal and being hasty but one day Wenger told me to relax and now I take my time - you could see that with the goal against Manchester United." Fabregas admits the entire team has been forced to step up following the departure of Thierry Henry. He added: "Henry is the best player in Arsenal's history and that's why people panicked when he left. It was like having to mature all of a sudden, a wake-up call. "He was like an umbrella that we hid beneath and when he went, we were forced to step forward and take responsibility."

My feeling is that if Arsene Wenger is around, Cese will not leave.
He owns Wenger too much, and he is 1 loyal footballer. |

Re: Arsenal FC Emirates All Gunner fans fall in
Angry Wenger mystified by his dismissal
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had few complaints about his side's Champions League defeat to Sevilla tonight - but he was far from happy about the 'absolutely shocking' conduct of the fourth official at the match after being sent from the dug-out. A youthful Arsenal side suffered a 3-1 loss at the hands of a dominant Sevilla, who joined the already-qualified Gunners in booking their spot in the last 16. Wenger watched the closing stages of the match at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan from beside the advertising hoardings near the tunnel. The Arsenal boss was given his marching orders, after feeling aggrieved at what he felt was time-wasting by Sevilla captain Daniel Alves. 'I'm not upset at all; I'm upset that we lost the game, that's all,' said Wenger. 'The player was down, and when the guy [physio] came on the pitch he stood up - and two minutes later he was sprinting. 'Therefore I have been sent off. The referee came to see me, and I asked him why I was sent off. He said he would explain after the game, and that is what happened. He could not give me any other reason.' Asked if that caused a problem with the fourth official, who appeared to want Wenger to move away from his position by the tunnel, the Arsenal boss added: 'The fourth official was very busy tonight throughout the game - that is the minimum you can say. 'I have played 100 games in the Champions League and I must say his behaviour was absolutely shocking. 'Where did he want me to go? I couldn't go in the stand. 'That is my opinion. I do not want us to talk about this for two hours tonight - there was a football game tonight.' Sevilla replaced Arsenal in top spot with the victory, and it will come down to the final round of matches to decide who finishes in pole position. In those games, Arsenal host bottom side Steaua Bucharest - and Sevilla go to Slavia Prague. Arsenal, who had not lost a competitive fixture since the beginning of April, were given a flying start to the match when striker Eduardo da Silva put them ahead in the 11th minute. But Sevilla struck back with first-half strikes from Seydou Keita and Luis Fabiano - the first goals conceded by Arsenal in this season's Champions League - before former Tottenham striker Fredi Kanoute added a third from the penalty spot late on. Wenger, who made seven changes to the side that started against Wigan at the weekend, admits the better team won. 'I feel Sevilla deserved to win the game - and congratulations to them,' he said. Sevilla came into the match having lost back-to-back Primera Liga matches, and coach Manolo Jimenez was delighted to see them bounce back against Arsenal. He said: 'It's been a magnificent performance today by the team. 'It's not the first time this season Sevilla have turned in a performance like that; we did it in the Spanish Supercup against Real Madrid, against Real Madrid in the league and in other Champions League matches. 'To do it after going a goal down is even better, and I hope we can continue like that in the rest of the season.' Jimenez, whose side lost 2-1 to Real Mallorca at the weekend, added: 'It's much easier to come back against a team like Arsenal, who still attack when they are 1-0 up, than against a team like Mallorca - who sometimes waste time when they are leading.'-soccernet

Re: Arsenal FC Emirates All Gunner fans fall in
David Beckham is set to train with Arsenal during the Los Angeles Galaxy's close season.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger revealed there is "a good chance" the former England captain will use the club's London Colney training ground to maintain his fitness. "We will help him to get fit and prepare for the season," Wenger told BBC Radio Five Live. "There's a good chance that he will come in January, but it's not decided." Beckham will need to prove his fitness if he is to be named in Fabio Capello's first England squad for the February 6 friendly against Switzerland at Wembley. The 32-year-old's last game for the Galaxy was a friendly against the Wellington Hurricanes in New Zealand at the start of December. The midfielder needs one more international appearance to reach a landmark 100 caps and London Colney is within an easy commute from Beckham's Hertfordshire home. "He has 99 caps and I hope he will get 100, if not 100 then 120," said Wenger. "At his age, he needs to keep fit." However, the Frenchman dismissed suggestions Beckham could feature for Arsenal in the new year. "He comes (only) to keep fit and work hard," Wenger said.

Cracks in The Gunners ?
FA to probe Abedayor clash with teammate Bendtner
Wednesday, January 23, 2008, 23:16:33 HRS The Football Association will look into a clash between Arsenal team-mates Emmanuel Adebayor and Nicklas Bendtner at the end of their team's 5-1 trouncing by Tottenham in the League Cup. The FA, English football's governing body, has requested television footage of Tuesday's altercation after referee Howard Webb confirmed he had not seen the entire incident. During the closing stages at White Hart Lane, with the tie already lost, Nicklas Bendtner - who had earlier scored an own goal - became involved in an altercation with team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor, and appeared to complain of being headbutted by the Togo international. Arsenal captain William Gallas stepped in to try to calm matters down, before then himself being confronted by the angry young Danish striker. Eventually, referee Webb had to intervene to restore order. As Webb revealed he did not witness the events in their entirety, the FA have now asked broadcasters to provide any relevant television footage. Once that is obtained, any incidents will be shown to Webb for his opinion. Should the referee indicate action would have been taken on the night had he witnessed it first hand, such as a red card for violent conduct, the FA can then retrospectively issue charges against any individuals. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger maintained he was not aware of the incident, while captain Gallas refused to single out anyone for blame. The France defender said: "I don't know what happened. I think everybody was disappointed with the score and they were nervous. "They know they made a mistake. Maybe they will speak with the boss to see why they did that." Gallas added: "We lost our calm. Sometimes it is difficult to be calm and it is not easy for some players to be calm. We were too nervous. We have to learn." Abdebayor has apologised for his part in the clash, explaining that the heat of the moment got the better of the duo. "We are a strong unit and what happened against Spurs will strengthen our desire and determination to compete for other targets," he told the club's official website. "Overall I think that we should have been more calm during the game and although I was pleased to get a goal back for the team when I came on, I am sorry for the disagreement with my teammate Nicklas. "We are both passionate about this club and sometimes that can be projected in the wrong way. It was a mistake. We want to focus on the games ahead and rely on our squad's great togetherness to achieve a fantastic season." |
