Your this few questions will NOT be asked ... Reason being the address is stated in the DE Card .... the ROM details is stated on the ROM letter shown to the officer ... IF all this questions are being asked, this show that either the Officer is Stupid or trying to be funny .... simpleras that ...

This question will only be asked if the person DID NOT fill in the address in the DE Card and will be subsequently called into the 'Office' for questioning .....

And if cannot answer, likely they will be deported back and will not be allowed to enter Singapore .... especially gals whom they suspected coming here to work illegally ...

bro bswuming87 situation will be entirely different ... coz the gal considering to be potential wife of a Singaporean, the ICA officer will not be rude to them and question so much .... especially with all the documentations given to shown them ..

Why I beg to differ is because this is the experience I had when I bring my wife and her family into Singapore for ROM AND I was right beside the ICA officer and I know what conversation they had with my wife ....

For those brothers who used MP appeal, you would recall the long q to see MP and the brevity of their letter of appeal. In fact when the MP appeal does fail, the MP does not contact you to meet the MP again and explore the remedial options. Usually, you will wait, apply and appeal again.

No one can say that you are wrong to do this and repeat the process with patience and honesty. I only mentioned in my past posts that there is a LEGAL AVENUE that may be considered.

however your sharing of inner knowledge of ICA is excelllent, I have to comment positively on that ... it is very relevant to this thread coz it will help BROs here to understand more about the law and how we can use it to appeal if anyone needs help ....

I guessed many bro comes in here is to learnt and find out more about ICA stuff ... not really on engaging lawyers to solve problems or how effective can a lawyer in this aspects ...

many BROs who have experienced will probbaly says it's not effective in this area of appeal beacuse they have already experienced the process ... so I guess you have to learnt and accept and knows where to put a stop ....

I never did say the MP route is the only route. There is more than one way to make an appeal; going through lawyers is one of them.

However, like I said, that particular route does not improve the chances of success one iota. Yes, it might illicit a more elaborate response but that's about it. You pay heaps of dollars for an illusion of headway when all that's achieved is the appeal gets routed to more than one human person. The end point is the same i.e. rejection but in a more elaborate manner.

I share my experience a little. Accompany one buddy collect PR with his prc wife. The officer say wait after take finger print, then i guai lan go bio tat bui chee bye officer gnn saw her drinking coffee and chit chatting with another bui chee bye behind the cubicle divider. I pull back my long neck and ask another officer wanna see their superior. She fierce fierce ask why, I raise my voice so almost everybody inside the hall can hear :"excuse me, is it tea time? How come we r here waiting while tat officer drink coffee and chit chat?"

Tat 'superior' quickly go silent, went inside and look for tat bui chee bye. Tat bui chee bye came out shortly say she need to prepare so many things. I told her I saw her drink coffee king king kiang kiang the spoon and the cup chit chat also can hear she say no such thing gnn. I was asked to calm down by tat 'superior' aside. I told her she can ask security pull me out but she didn't i say thank you, but ask her whether got logic or not like tat let ppl wait? She say she'll ask her 'superior' to 'look-into-it'. I ask so you are not superior lor? She silent...

It's very long time ago and many yrs liao i can't remember detail roughly is like that.

Actually accompany my buddy go ica many times liao. He's simply too soft to handle such things-I'm more straight forward. For those officers who misuse their authorities, I simply point out right in their face.

Person on visitor pass or LTVP are NOT allowed to work .... if caught ..... severe actions will be taken against the offenders and that includes forfeiture of deposit if it has been made ....

When you are caught means you are caught Red-Handed working 'illegally' .... otherwise ... Appeal ... call mp or lawyer also CANNOT help you ... because you BREAK the Law ...

Stay away from trouble ... and don'T have to fret ...

In this discussion on legals representation. Getting a lawyer does not mean that you can escape scott free. However, the impression presented to ICA is that you are testing their evidence to justify the arrest of that unfortunate person who was caught.


ICA faces 100s of such cases daily and repatriate them by the tons yearly. When there is a legal appeal, it catches their eye and the merits of the appeal is examined. There is this element called benefit of the doubt.

If a FL is caught and meekly goes back, there is an assumption to ICA that the FL "admitted her wrong".

Compared with a FL who appeals legally, through MP or DIY, this FL may be given the benefit of the doubt and a second chance.

And because sometimes the timing of the arrest and the proposed repatriation of the FL is so short, say 2 to 3 days, very often only the DIY or legal appeal is available. It takes time to see MP and for MP to send appeal and by which time, the FL may be in her native homeland already.

At the end of the day, merits of the appeal or otherwise is key.

The golden rule is to be firm but politely so. Be firm but based on knowledge of ICA procedures grounded by logic.

Being rude also is a little risky as this gives them an excuse not to serve you or worst ask security to escort you out.

good luck to bros who is trying to clear the immigration hurdle to be with their love ones.

although i am relatively lucky in getting pass this hurdle, still the process is lengthy, troublesome with lots of worried.

after married for coming 2years, we are finally able to be together this July. within this period of time, we fly back and forward every 2-6months. keeping the flame burning through phone calls, messgener etc.

of course, when she come over the challenge is not going to get smaller but will be another level up. just got to keep working hard to overcome it. pray that things will be fine.
