I am 32 and i have already stop all this kind of activities. I dont have a kid but I am already at that stage where i am saving money for my kids education and retirement.

If you are 40s and still thinking of chionging instead of using your last chance to really find a life long partner, then you can't blame god that you are single. Your choice of life has a part to play for the people you meet.

Re: Curious about life, culture and women in LOS

Hi all senior bros, everyone have their stories in LOS. i have mine too.

will share mine other occasion. But I would like to say is beside Chiang Rai is a good place for retirement, how about korat? heard that korat is getting popular as more businesses are moving there. Big companies, such as Samsung, Coca Cola, some local companies are located there.

i have my gf in thailand as well. She used to work in bkk, but since last year, i have put her back to her hometown.

not all thai girls are after $. But yes, do agree most of them who work in night spots in bkk, phuket are.

TS, i am also try to learn thai language. keen to engage a teacher and learn together? i can't even speak a single sentence.

Hi,

Have you been to Chiang Rai (CEI) yet?

Nakon Rachasima or Korat is cheaper to reside compare to Bkk, of course any place that doesn't have much farangssss or tourist is cheaper.

Not only Korat have big names factories, othe province like Ayutthaya, Rayong etc etc also have foreign companies operating there.

So where is your gf hometown? Care to share why you put her back to her home town?

Ya I concur your statement, not every thai girls looking for money, but many are in relationship with thai girls are girls that are WL, thus money is the main issue here.

Time for you to sign up some basic thai language course.
Remember to use it with your gf once you able to speak a sentence or two otherwise you'll tend to forget if you never practise it daily .

Where u heard this, companies like Coca Cola, Samsung are in Korat?

Korat is 1 of the biggest city in Thailand, might be 2nd or 3rd after Bangkok. Google for it, I might be wrong. Traffic is very bad in Korat and most of the cars are "owned" by foreigners driven by local. To retire in Korat might as well stay in BKK.

Korat, Nakhon Ratchasima should be a gateway to Isan, so cost of living may be low.

Re: Curious about life, culture and women in LOS

bro, sorry for my ignorance.

when i in korat, the meeting place is always near coca cola & samsung plant only. pls correct me if samsung & coke have other plant in other area.

standand of living wise, it is slightly cheaper than bkk. but if you are in korat main town, the prices for food are not much difference. heard that the land price are going up.

yes, see more foreigners in korat, with their thai wife and offspring.

Re: Curious about life, culture and women in LOS

this is what my thai friends told me... ...Isan even cheaper. if go by driving, is about 7 to 8 hours from bkk. v near to Laos. most of the people from Isan can speak Laos language. They will cross over to Laos to buy daily stuff instead cos is cheaper in Laos.

Re: Curious about life, culture and women in LOS

Isan speak Laotian dialect. Historically, they are Lao very long time ago, kenna annex by Thai King Rama V if I remember correctly. MNCs are slowly moving North after the big flood in 2012 and the land price appreciating is correct from your information.

Mor lum, luk tung, though the latter more Thai, sticky rice and insect food are types of Lao music spreading from Isan.

just sharing,
ChiangMai is the 2nd largest city after BKK.
It's true land prices are shooting up 2-3x more compared to the last few years so invest in a few if u have any closed friends, safest is still thru' relatives.
Another fact- many Thais would prefer the north when it's yearend or nearing their retirement, thus another possible city for you bro/sis to consider.

Regards

I am more concern about the jobs option available or most people go there to start a business, be self-reliant. What's the risk involved?

Farang here in CNX majority works as a language teacher.

Otherwise those sent by their company to station down here. Here they priorities
their people, rather than hiring thanachart. In order to work with the locals, you need to be well verse in pasa thai, that's including in reading and writing.

Business wise, I'm not sure, but at here the business I can say are quite good.
Majority of my thai friends run their own business, be it from selling games, shirt at night market, and some running coffee shops and chill bars.

My friend shared with me his profit during the high season, especially towards the end of the year.

He have a shop at Malin plaza, those who been to CNX will know these place.

He paid his lot for 300BHT per day, with 170BHT additional for them to help him keep his goods after shop close.

On good day, after minus his cost for shirt/pants, sandals, rent, food, he can easily earn up to 6K BHT for per night. He told me his monthly income average from 22K to 35K on a good month. He only needs to work from 6 to 1030pm.

The only day he didn't make money is when it's raining day. Just too bad, Malin Plaza got no more lot to lease out, otherwise I also have one shop there.
