Just stumbled upon this thread... checked first few pgs, FF to this last pg... i find most of the tieng viet mentioned here is southern style.

Northern (Hanoi) and central pronounciation is very different. Which would u rather learn? The northern (official) style or the southern (Saigon) style?

Eg of northern pronounciation:
ban ron is pronounced "butt zot" (busy)
mot nghin (1,000)... in the south its mot ngan
etc

My Guess: When you are free..... ???

The tones are confusing, maybe not accurately written?

For example ranh=naughty, but rảnh=to be free, to have leisure.
"rảnh" seems more logical in this sentence.

SMS= nhan tin

"den" in this case could be "make up" instead of "reach"

"nha" in this case could just be an exclaimation like "ok?" instead of house/home

So:

Dunno, from my understanding, if they use "anh" in the conversation, they won't use "may" to mean "you".
