Re: Understanding Vietnamese Life Partner
To illustrate how much time and education these viet gals need, i will list out a few incidents :
Incident 1 I got my wife a VISA credit card a few years ago but she kept it for a long time without using it. Everytime when i am out with her, i will tell her to use it to pay for purchases and i will show her the steps about using it. She refused (which is good, save money). But once, i was out with her to fill up petrol for my car. At the cashier, i realised i forgot to bring my wallet out. So i asked my wife to bring out her VISA to pay for it. She REFUSED!! i told her i forgot to bring my wallet, but she told me its `not lucky' to use the VISA. She told me she wants to leave her VISA with the cashier while we drive home to get my wallet. I had to talk to my wife for so long, even scolded her. Finally after 15 minutes, she agreed to sign. Incident 2 My wife's friend, upon seeing my wife have VISA cards in her wallet, told my wife that she also has VISA card. She asked my wife if the BANK invited my wife to go to the bank to collect the card and also a bank book. My wife said NO and said that ours is being sent to us via mail. Her friend said loudly that her's is higher class as she collected at the bank personally. She never realised that her's a VISA debit card while my wife's is a VISA credit card. Incident 3 I started a bank account for my wife and place a certain amount into it. Not a super big sum but also not small sum. Bank sent Internet banking PIN, phone Banking PIN and also ATM PIN. I told my wife these are very important and that she cannot anyhow place it or misplace it. At the end of the day, i found the 3 letters on the living room table. I asked her why she left it there? The maid could have just looked at it and withdraw the money. My wife can tell me not to worry, she already took photos of it. I almost exploded !! I scolded her and as per normal, she will stared at me like she is going to kill me. These gals need a lot of education. They do not know a lot of things. My wife has been with me for over 10 years, also Singapore citizen since 2009. But there are just some things that are so village vietnamese, and one of it is the stubborness . I heard a lot of village gals said before: You have to give us money because we are poor. Other countries have to help vietnam because we are poor. We cheat you singaporeans because we are poor. etc etc etc Always a reason for every action, they are never wrong. Be firm, educate your wife and be patient. It will take a long long time. First as baby...still quite cheap if baby less than a year old and breast feed...formula tin is also less than 200k VND per tin depends on brand... When Come to education...then question attend local school or international school...local school expenses negligible but international school fees can be around USD 10k to 20k per semester...my take is better to bring to sinkie for education if child father is sinkie... Other than that food and transport sure home cook food and motorbike transport which can be around 2mil per month...^7 In general if you hv a child in local school than prepare around 3 to 5 mil VND expenses per month...around 10 mil VND for mother and child... Above is my estimate and opinion...
