Re: Batam Info Thread
Dear all bros, being a newbie in the Batam scene,i now consolidate my newbie's trail to Batam as a record & basic information for the future of other Batam newbies who wish to cheong this place solo/in group :
If you wish to cheong Batam, cannot find a buddy or guide to bring/guide you, fret not...i was inspired by all the helpful bros here and below is my experience and you should not have any problem if you could follow them thru step by step. READ THE BELOW PLAN 1ST : 1. Change your Sin $. S$300 is sufficient for a 2D1N trip there.Change only $250,and keep S$50 as spare. S$300 exclude ferry price which will be another S$48.00. (it is safer to have this amt of money for 1st timer, later trip will cost you less or once you know what REALLY need to spend on) 2. Book a hotel from agoda.com or booking.com ,i suggest for 1st timer to book online as you are 99% guaranteed to get a room this way. The 2 suggested site is more reliable for hotel booking as i have tried them personally. 3. Book Formosa Hotel. Reason, becos it is a newbie hotel and it is near to the cheonging place & girl booking joint. The hotel will cost you about S$60 to S$70 for a night. This cost is included inside the S$250 i ask you to change in step no.1 and you only pay upon checking out. The hotel will ask to safe keep your Singapore Passport for you,and again fret not,its safe enough till you check out. 4. Book a ferry (to & fro Singapore) at Prima Ferries, http://primaferries.com/ Check your desire timing you wish to go/reach Batam and book from there on. Remember that Indonesia Time and Singapore Time has one hour difference/apart,which will also means if you book a ferry to go to Batam at 2pm Singapore time, you will reach Batam at about 2pm indo time. 5. Have a passport that has at least 6 month validity. Now,once the above 5 steps are done, you are ready to go. Below will be steps to help you Navigate Batam : Do note here that as a newbie myself,i do not speak a single word of Bahasa Indonesia or Malay. I am a Chinese. 1. Go to any MRT station in Singapore, make a trip to Harbour Front MRT station, head to : 1 Maritime Square #03-47, Harbourfront Centre, Singapore 099253 Tel: +65 6276 6711 Fax: +65 6276 6551 Make sure you reach there an hour before the time you book the ferry to collect your boarding pass. Check in for ferry ride is half an hour before the stated time. |

4. Upon arriving at Batam Habour Bay,this will be what you will be seeing :
5. You will need to walk pass this area below : Step out of Ferry 1st view: Walking towards immigration/arrival hall : 6. This is the place every human who arrive to Batam Harbour Bay will 100% need to pass thru, inside the door,no camera is allow. Inside the door is the place where the Indo custom officer chop your passport, usually there will be some queuing. And queue is long during weekends. |

Re: Batam Info Thread
7. Once you you get your passport chopped, just follow along with the others who arrive to Batam and you will be out.Upon walking out from the below glass door (you will arrive from inside the door) :
Do not be worried by the departure word on the pics, you will depart and arrive from the same GLASS door. Upon coming out from the glass door, just about 15 steps away, you will see the below photo, which is obviously a mini mart. This is where i equip myself a large bottle of Mineral Water,12s of CDs and a bottle of shampoo (cigarette too). Last edited by nono1973; 18-04-2014 at 04:47 PM. |

Re: Batam Info Thread
8. 1st thing to do for me upon outside beside just getting my necessities,i will go confirm my return ticket back to Singapore. So i will need to go find Prima Ferries counter at Batam which is about >2 mins walk from Habour Mart :
Prima Ferries Batam Counter : JI. Duyung - Batu Ampar Komplek Harbour Bay Citywalk No.CW11 Tel: +62 778 741 5007 Fax: +62 778 741 5150 There is a few entrances for Prima Ferries, the below pics can show as guide to make sure you won't miss : It is important for 1st timer to book in advance the ferry time to go back Singapore so that you are guaranteed a seat on the ferry to be back to Singapore the next following day with your desired timing. Weekends, eve of public holiday and peak season may result in lack of return ticket back to Singapore. Also a part of learning for 1st timer too. |

Re: Batam Info Thread
Now that the most basic on arriving to Batam is done, time to take a cab to the newbie Hotel,Formosa. Over the time you step out the GLASS door mentioned earlier, you were approached by a lot taxi drivers(supir) and ojek(motor bike riders). Now it's time to try to taking a cab/taxi. Taxi is recommended for 1st time Batam Travellers. The taxi fare should cost you between 30k to 40k indo currency. 50k and above will be carrot head price as base on the distance traveled to the Formosa hotel,it is considered more expensive than taxi fare in Singapore.
If everything goes well, you will arrive at Formosa hotel in about 5 mins from Habour Bay. You will pass your passport to the lobby and tell him/her you booked from online. They will safe keep your passport for you too. Check out formosahotel.com for details on Hotel facilities. After checking into your room, comes the challenging part. There is a Massage palour and a KTV right in the hotel,do feel free to check it out,but do be careful of the special service pricing. The girls in massage palour usually open their lioness mouth with a big price tag,so bargaining the price down is essential. Below is the map as a guide for moving out of the hotel to roam : Note here on the map is,Dynasty,New berry,Queen 8933 and New Berlian are joints for picking up girls for overnight with you. Walking out of Formosa Hotel front door, with your back facing the door...on your right will a building called Lucky Plaza as shown in map. It's only about 25 steps from the front door of formosa hotel. Further down towards Lucky Plaza right to its other end you should see another building, another about 30 steps around that area, you should see New Berlian. During your walk there, you also won't miss the many eatery places in that area. From the front entrance of Formosa Hotel, again back facing Formosa front door...walk to the left about 60 steps away, you should see Dynasty. Opposite Dynasty (across the road) around that area you should see Queen 8933 within about 30 steps away (Queen8933 is 10 o'clock from Formosa Hotel entrance). Behind Queen8933,within sight distance, you should see New Berry. Updated on 19th Apr 14: "New Berry had relocated to the Block near Indah 2 (opposite Bali Hotel) since Feb 2014. No more near Sina Bulan." (Credit to doggienine99) Altogether 4 joints just within walking distance of less than 5 mins with a total of about 100 girls to choose from if you are there in the early afternoon. Aquarium Girl Booking Joint Price : 600k to 1.5 juta IDR End of service tip for the girl : 50k to 200k (depending on service level or rejection, anything less or more is subject to individual) For shopping, walk to Lucky Plaza from right side of Formosa Hotel entrance to lucky plaze, you should see a BIG building call Nagoya hill Shopping Mall : Not enough Indonesia dollar? Directly opposite Formosa Hotel has at least 10 money changers to change your SGD to IDR. This info posted is a consolidated personal experience base on extracted advise/info given in forums & websites after personally making 3 trips to Batam. Re: Batam Info Thread
To go back to Singapore, just reverse the process from my above post, and remember the taxi pricing should remains the same. As you already got your Boarding pass when you arrive, you can straight away check in from the Departure Hall :
Same rules apply, arrive at the Departure hall an hour in advance before the departure time in your Boarding pass. Half an hour before yr departure time,Gates from Habour Bay will open and you will cross the same immigration where you 1st step into Batam. Good luck and enjoy Batam! |

Re: Batam Info Thread
Very good guide for newbies bro Nono!
However I think for cheap charlies Farmosa is a lil ex.. There are many other cheaper hotels for those running on a tight budget. Nevertheless, I agree it's a very good hotel for newbies to try due to it's location. I'd recommend learning few basic indo or malay words.. Really would make a world of a difference during negotiations with whoever you encounter during any form of transactions.. Let me give you an example.. I had a massage session on the last day before boarding ferry back @ Atalanta. First off, there was this guy who works there handing out towels who recommended me a girl with quality service, we spoke for a while and talked about some stuff. Apparently he's married with kids. I told him nicely, some guys in SG with decent jobs & income can't even set up a household. Anyways, in short I had a session with e grl, she was gr8 but as usual like most grls will try to chop carrot head asked for quite a large sum can't recall but I think it was 600k for FJ. But during the session i tried building up a rapport with the girl, making jokes, asking questions - being friendly. She tried to seduce me by catbath den grinding herself on me and I took the chance to suck on her while she was on top. In the end 200k for FJ (say she cannot tahan already). To be frank I think i was lucky cos some ceweks really mean business but nevertheless communication is important! So learn a bit of bahasa
