I have never been to any discotheque in Batam,but i do heard of a disco pub near to Sekupang area at STC mall (Star Trade Centre Mall) name UV Room where they have sexy dance performance as well. Sometime ago,"frens" says can be quite happening there at times...lol...but like i say,i never been there before as distance also quite far from where i stay. (about 30min drive from where i stay)

On the subject of keeping rup. Bro any idea do they print new notes each time a new president being elected? Cos i kena once. Old notes i.e. printed say 20yrs back, hotel and papy rejected it.

You are referring to the notes of post Suharto era. The banks did come out to tell people that after certain dates, these notes are not useable anymore. THat was 1999 or 2000....


So far, nothing on these notes changing yet. Only thing they wanted to do is print new notes to minus the 000 behind, so effectively, the 100 rupiah will become 1 Rupiah. It did not get pass the parliament.

That was talk on printing 200K rupiah as well, but it did not go down well...

As of now, there is no new talk.

Every Thursday, the bank changes old notes that are out of circulation. Some rare ones are valuable so can keep them.

Side notes: Coins are more expensive to mint now so maybe one reason to reconfigure the denominations. But it is always nice to use funny monies to give away, to solicit interests from the improvised.

One question,about 2 months ago,i hear from this thread that Batam is going to have a Casino coming up around end of Oct or beginning of Nov 2014,may i check if it has already been up now?

2nd question asking on behalf of a friend,may i know if the below iHotel Club in Batam still exist? (looks like a hang flower joint and i find the song is nice)

There use to be a so called "gaming place" in harbour bay. But it had been closed down. Casino? maybe not under this president. No definite answer yet.
