The chinese there are not big spenders, they work and save what they can. A simple food there does not cost much, and they try to sell wherever they can, usually in the day market. I know one who sells food in the morning, and at night, sells at A2 foodcourt.

They make a decent living and trying their best to survive. Of cos, not all chinese are good.

Some stores are distribution centres, where they sell to other islands as well. It goes down the chain. The things you see in malls are usually the best, and of cos, caters to the rich and foreigners.

That is why they see singaporeans as rich, as our money is big. Many aunties are willing to marry or even be 2nd wife of a singaporean.

One thing to note that even singaporeans are rich, please do no look down on others, as there are "hidden dragons, crouching tigers too"... I am referring to the rich.. They easily have more money in their account than you and me combined.

And also always note .. NOT ALL GALS ARE FOR SALE.

Thanks for the insight. The reason I ask this question is that I always naively thought that all Indo Chinese are damm fucking rich. At least, you are kind enough to explain to me otherwise.

You can go to Bahari Massage( clean) beside this hotel. ABI massage is beside Bahari( got specials), and Lai LAi hotel is nearby too. Sedona( gold bird) is round the corner( pick up joint).

Sports Massage is abit further to wards Permata Bank. Clean joint. Abit further you can see MacDonalds. Harmoni Hotel. It is the pub area.

Food wise, not much option. Or you walk towards Nagoya Hills direction, some bread shop and 5 minutes walk away is nagoya HIlls.

Batam administration to cull thousands of chickens

The Batam administrative region will cull chickens in locations within a 1-kilometer radius from areas with recorded bird flu cases in an attempt to prevent the spread of the bird flu virus to humans.

Bird flu, or avian influenza, has spread rapidly in Batam. In less than a month, a total of 2,070 chickens died in two Batam sub-districts; Air Raja sub-district in Bulang district and Tanjung Riau sub-district in Sekupang district. The chickens tested positive for the deadly H5N1 bird flu virus, Batam’s maritime, fisheries, agriculture and forestry affairs department (KP2K) confirmed.

KP2K chief Suhartini told The Jakarta Post on Thursday that chickens had been dying in the two sub-districts since the beginning of January.

“Hundreds more chickens from other sub-districts also died, possibly from bird flu. But local residents did not report the cases to us,” said Suhartini.

Following the KP2Ks findings, the Batam administration plans to take necessary preventative measures to address the spread of the viruses. The two sub-districts in question will be isolated and the authorities will spray disinfectants around resident settlements and chicken scoops in the areas.

The KP2K also warned the poultry breeders from those two sub-districts to not sell-on their chickens and people have been warned to not consume chickens from the areas.

“Bird flu has become an epidemic in these areas. Therefore, we will cull all chickens within a 1-kilometer radius of the location where bird flu-infected chickens were found,” said Suhartini.

Meanwhile, Batam Mayor Ahmad Dahlan highlighted on Thursday bird flu in humans had not been found in Batam so far. He urged people to report any case of dead poultry to the KP2K so that it could follow up the cases and investigate the cause of the deaths.

“No need to panic,” Dahlan said, adding that several hospitals had been assigned as bird flu referral centers. (ebf)

THanks for the compliment. I live and work here. Going regional at times, and travel to singapore as well. Been here for about 15 years. There are still many food places to visit, and they are too ulu for non locals. When I have friends, I bring them to eat, becos these places with no vehicle, no way you can go.

No thanks to crowded singapore and crisis years ago, I relocated here but still maintain business and family member contacts in singapore.
