Anyone prefer shaving pubic hair to waxing? Waxing is getting expensive so wondering whether it make sense to shave? Any good electric shavers to recommend without getting nick? I saw barber using Wahl beard trimmer. Not sure whether that works.

I use Bovem Trimmer. Rechargeable. Waterproof, no cuts. Works well so far.

Shaving is very itchy once it grows. And it grows super fast. I pluck. It takes much longer to grow and so much cleaner. After u pluck for years, u won't feel pain and the growth is slower and thinner

If you are on a budget, consider the panasonic er 2403....can get it online under $40....and it can be use wet or dry

It's nothing fancy but should get the job done, although you will need to trim it down with scissors first otherwise the hair is too long for the trimmer to handle.

Yeah, I use the shortest one on the Philips I recommended and get that very short stubble... if I am not lazy, I will do maintenance every few weeks... when I get lazy, it can last at least 2 months, before growing out and getting irritating LOL


I have also given up on shaving due to the ingrown hairs, pimple and pus, as well as the time on top of trimming...

on the same subject but a different area... umm... butt hole...
That I still shave maybe once every 2 to 3 weeks, hate the feeling of "stuff" getting stuck there and feel it's cleaner... have not had any issues with ingrown hairs there.
just have to be a little acrobatic and bend here and there to get all of it HAHA

Also... I think many guys can accept shaving their public hair but making the result permanent... Not sure how many here are willing to go for an irreversible process.

Pretty permanent. Usually they treatment is either shave or wax before IPL. I opted for wax before IPL.

The Chinese term for IPL is 打光. Need to have 10 treatments for more permanent effect.

Trimmer is good, even if you trim to a short length, the edge of the hair is not sharp. Scissors or shaver will make the hair tip sharp, not nice when walking, and certainly not nice when fucking.

I use a xiaomi hair trimmer nowadays.

various shops have varying packages available, i liked JapanIPL cause they go by the concept of pay per use and you just need to top up the shots after each session of usage, this is good for maintenance if you cant find better options however i stopped going to them even if i have leftover 100+ shots is because i feel they are a con-job as my last trip i have very minimal hairs but they still shot me 200+ shots when it could well have been below 100 shots, then i realised they anyhow expend shots to make you pay more later. thus i no longer go to them. now just go to an ML for IPL maintenance and is fixed rate based on the area i'm concentrating on irregardless of number of shots. :D

not much diff bro, its just their marketing strategy, they have chains of outlets across SG and mostly found in MRT stations etc so its easily accessible, but some IPL places offer fixed rates while JapanIPL charges by shots. the equipment used should be quite similar.

a buddy of mine invested in one of those home-use IPL devices, it works well initially if you have never tried IPL, however subsequently it starts to loose its effects and the hair growth comes back faster resulting more regular maintenance required.

yes you are right, typically the IPL machines invested by shops are industrial scale machines that offers better efficacy and usually they are not cheap which can several thousands.

trimmer won't get the "smooth" shave finish, even at the lowest setting, presuming you use the clip on "protectors" (not sure what you call them) you will end up with stubbles, the lower the setting, the shorter the stubble.

i would not suggest using it with a bare trimmer without the protector in case you nick or cut yourself... unlike shavers, this is a pinch and cut. very painful compared to razor cuts.

No doubt IPL can achieve permanent effect after a few sessions. Just not ready to make a lifelong choice now. yup IPL is pretty much semi non-reversible as the effects would be long lasting but actually if you dont go back for maintenance the hair eventually still grows back esp the areas where thicker follicles are located such as the base of shaft, balls etc. although it would never be back to an amazon forest but at least still can be small grassland or rice fields.

for me personally i did IPL mainly for conivience and ease of maintenance, without having the need to shave/trim own self almost on a regular basis.

But if you like me, used to be lots of hair down below and frequently causing:
1. Itch that leads to scratching
2. In turn cause damage to the skin
3. The scratching or fidgeting outdoor is also unsightly.
4. Entangled hairs might also causes pain, especially when it's tangled to the foreskin.
5. Shaving / wax, hair grow is faster, and also prick the skin which again causes itch.

You will appreciate ipl.
Now, all these problems are no more.

Ok. Honestly, those home or DIY IPL device do work. But do you seriously want to buy something that cheap (range of ~$50) to try on your body, especially the very private parts?

I'd suggest getting something with good reviews, newer tech & better quality.

Next, problem with DIY is that, you might find it difficult to reach those hard to see area, for example, the butt. You can't really see where is the hair growth, & zap them properly.

This is why getting or paying someone to do it might be a better option.

Else if cost is your main concern, u can go for both options together. Periodically go for professional grooming, while DIY in between.
